Description:

This is one of my earlier retextures, part of the Ronaldus Retexture Project (which will be getting a major update soon!), but this was requested as a standalone so here it is!

-Backstory-
My original inspiration with this was to make a 3rd Century style roman legionary unit since the units of Attila span a huge range in time (Menaulatoi weren’t around until the 11th century!) I figured the Legio unit represented late 4th century roman heavy infantry , legio comitatenses a 5th century roman heavy infantry and eastern armored legio a 6th/7th century byzantine infantry formation, the herculiani seniores being a specific unit (ironically enough dating from the end of the 3rd century under emperor Diocletian).

To try and establish the feel of the era, I have given these soldiers the italic helmet which was still in some use at the time. Realistically they should be scattered among the unit with a mix of other helmets and assorted pieces of equipment to reflect the increasingly ad-hoc and less uniform equipment of roman soldiers during the crisis of the 3rd century, but hey I was an amature when I made this and didn’t know how at the time.

A slightly more realistic version of this unit will be in the new version of the retexture project but this will be here for those who prefer this version.
