Canada Rework
July 8 update:
-Fixed Journal Entries
-Reduced development cost
June 27 update:
Added compatibility for 1.7
Removed Hudson Bay ports and route until I fix whatever is causing the game to crash. Still an ocean tile so feel free to build ports and fisheries. Update – issue on PDX end and their map editor breaking. Pray that they fix it.
-Made the sea tile impassable. Should prevent naval invasions from random sea tiles now
You will notice some major changes:
-Removed split provinces. This will let you actually use mods with this lol ^_^;;
-Traits are now added on mod load instead of in map_data. Makes it easier for compatibility patches
-Removed some JE’s and updated others
—-Some left over artifacts from this that will be slowly patched out
-Patched out migration JEs. PDX fixed migration with 1.6 and 1.7. American frontier JE is good enough since it’s easy enough to break free from GB now – otherwise just build your economy and migrants will come in droves.
December 1 update:
Finalized Canadian split states
Added Migration Journal Entries
Added Develop north provinces JE
Updated Quebec Iron Mine JE
Updated Canadian Gold JE
Rebalanced Canadian Gold mines
Rebalanced and added dynamic traits
Rebalanced Canadian Oil
Rebalanced minerals
Rebalanced Static State traits
Custom trait icons 🙂

Canada – A land of snow and Forests has a severe lack of forests. The Hudson Bay reduced to a mere lake, train tracks that don’t fully connect provinces.
Some may question why a few in game states (provinces) get so much – For that I’d like you to compare the size of Ontario and Quebec to the eastern USA or Europe. And do that for the rest of the provinces :P. Canadian provinces are ridiculously large – it’s common for us to take a multiday road trip across provinces to visit family. With that said, I believe Canadian states require significantly more arable land and resource caps. Ontario and Quebec are modeled fine for arable lands. Prairies… not so much.
Goal of this mod is to fix up the Great North and maybe (if I can get it working) get some mods up in the territories for those who want to really invest in the resource rich north. I don’t plan on deviating into some alt history or new events (since I’m not confident I can accurately portray these key events – If someone else wants to, please reach out and we can work together!). Just hoping to make canada RP a little better. As well, I’d like to better reflect the vast untapped resources of the interior and how difficult it was historically to access it. It’s bad faith to not even include those resources as if there was a concerted effort in colonize and industrialize the interior, much of those resources may have been accessible.
Added gold deposits to northern and eastern canada to better reflect the large gold, diamond and silver deposits in the regions. So far Im liking the idea of it being a PITA to inhabit the north – the large gold deposits but non-existant infrastructure balances things out IMO.
The modifiers feel cramped but there’s only so much you can do with the limited amount of states in Canada.
