Description:

This mod splits Hydro power from the normal power plant building, and adds a "hydro potential" value to states all around the world, limiting how many can be built there.

It also adds three generations of hydro-power plants as production methods, to help them keep up with the other alternatives, as well as options for better turbines and an AC/DC method to both hydro and fuelled plants, just to give some more progression to the system.

A few more details:

Each state in the game that can support hydro-power is given a modifier after a few days when the game starts. Each of these states will be given a maximum number of hydro-power plants. (5, 10, or 20) The potential can be seen in the bottom-right corner of the state-view.

The method upgrades for turbines, as well as switching from DC to AC, are mostly implemented to give a sense of progression to electricity in the game. If anyone have any good ideas for a more thematically/historically interesting naming or mechanic implementation for this, I’m all ears.

Changing to AC power gives the plants in the state a 2% energy production FOR EACH PLANT in that state. It will also give a small amount of infrastructure.

Increasing the quality of turbines will give a small flat increase to production, as well as reduce/redistribute workers. And will also increase energy production by a small percentage each, just as the AC switch.

Compatibility:

This mod should be compatible with any mod that does not touch the vanilla power plant, and does not completely change the map. (minor region/state changes, or different start dates, should be fine)

A few notes:

The reason for the somewhat weird implementation of the hydro potential for each state, is to try to avoid any compatibility problems with both other mods (especially those that make changes to the map) and future updates from Paradox, by (painstakingly) adding each state to a list manually. If anyone have a better solution to future-proof a similar system, I’d be happy to hear about it.

Although I believe the mod to be balanced enough, I’m open to more suggestions.

If you find a mistake or disagree with my choices of which states have been given hydro potential, please inform me, and I’ll consider changing it.

I’m also open to any other suggestions you might have for changes or new features, if I find them thematic and interesting.
