Monument to the Brotherhood in Arms in Szczecin
Monument to the Brotherhood in Arms – an beautiful monument erected on the central graveyard in the city of Szczecin (Stettin) in the year 1967. It symbolizes the victory of the Polish and Soviet armies over the German army in World War II. This monumental structere consists of 2 diffrently sized V-letter shaped pylons, constructed out of ferroconcrete with an admixture of quartz aggregate and white cement, to which rectengular and triangular tiles are mounted like fethers on bird’s winds. The artistic form shaped in this way symbolically refers to the wings of the victorious Polish hussars and the sign of Victoria. The architects of the monument were Sławomir Lewiński, Anatol Suchodolski and Kazimierz Szulca. In the year 2009 the monument was renovated.
