Ictineo II
This is my near 1:1 replica of the Ictineo II submarine built in 1864. It was invented by spanish writer and engineer Narciso Monturiol and was the first submarine with an Air Independent propulsion system by burning potassium chlorate, zinc and manganese dioxide in its steam boiler. It was made for collecting corals hence the net on the front, and was also given arms at a point in its life. Unfortunately the submarine was EXTREMELY expensive, and had to be broken up after it went bankrupt. A replica of the Ictineo II was built in 1992 which this stormworks recreation is based off of!

1) in the stern of the submarine press the boiler key
2) use the throttle lever to make engine go
behind the two portholes open the 2 valves that allow air from the ballast tanks to escape into the tanks
use the manual pumps below the hatch to flood the ballast tanks
fill the tanks between 1200-1400 for neutral buoyancy depending on how many people are on board
to ascend do the same thing in reverse.
