BMT-72 (or BMPT-72) is an experienced Ukrainian heavy infantry fighting vehicle based on the main T-72 tank, developed in the early 2000s by Kharkiv Machine Building Design Bureau. AA Morozova.
BMT-72 was created on the basis of the
T-72 tank, has a tank layout and largely preserved the unification with the T-72 tank. In comparison with the T-72, the undercarriage of the BMP is extended by one roller to increase the internal volume. By installing a new motor-transmission compartment from the Oplot tank and reducing the ammunition to the tank gun, it became possible to create an amphibious
ompartment in the middle of the tank hull.
The landing compartment is located between the combat and engine-transmission units, its three hatches are on top in the roof of the tank shell behind the tower.
