Description:

First introduced in 1941, the SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser was a continuation of the experiment begun with the SC-453 Class of wooden-hulled coastal patrol vessels for the United States Navy in World War II.

The 497 were widely converted into a variety of roles, like minesweeping duties and patrol gunboats. They were also widely distributed by the USN as lend-lease ships to various allied countries, including the Soviet Union, France, Brazil, Norway, and more. Yet of the 438 that were built during the war, only a small handful are still extant, such as the HNoMS Hitra now preserved in the Royal Norwegian Navy Museum, and one as a converted houseboat in Oregon.

I am very happy to bring you a multiplayer-friendly vessel which features a variety of weapons that I have designed attempting to replicate various armaments of the United States Navy during World War II. This ship includes many true to life features, like a top speed of 21 knots, two General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, a 40mm Bofors main armament, three 20mm Oerlikon Machine Guns, several depth charges, two K-Guns, and two front launching Mk.20 "Mousetrap" ASW Launchers. This vessel is a fearsome beast for any submarine to contend with, and can hold its own against a variety of soft targets. However, this vessel can be sunk by dedicated weapons fire against it, so make sure to dish out more than comes at you!
The depth charges held by ropes on the sides are designed to be pushed off once the ropes have been detached, while the K guns allow for an easy means to launch two of the Mk. 6 Depth Charges at an enemy vessel underneath, all with a standard explosion depth of -10m which can be customized for deeper targets. Furthermore, to find an underwater foe, this vessel comes equipped with two sonar stations hooked up to the latest in hydrophone technology under the Pilot House to search for enemy contacts.

To turn on the engine, there is a hatchway in the middle of the ship between the AA gun emplacements that lead to the engine room. Once inside, merely increase the throttles, turn on both sets of buttons for cooling and fans, and then turn the starter keys for two seconds, and make sure that you turn the starter keys back off once the engines are going. This process does need to be done on each individually. Once the engines are on, go back up the ladder while holding shift and control to speedily crouch outta there, and then use the clutch throttles in the Pilot House to begin one’s search for the enemy!

This also does have a sinking function for those that know where to find it.
