Description:

The Quasar IV is a level 25 highly configurable and versatile carrier for Vanilla and Reforged Eden. The carrier is designed to fulfill a choice of roles from a standard carrier hauler, to a heavy capital ship miner, or even as a light cruiser warship, or anything in between! The ship features docking for 3 modules, an expansive hangar, and internal compartment space that will allow captains to define the character of the carrier.

The ship comes in with plenty of CPU to spare for configuration – 1.3 million for RE, and 4.9 million for vanilla.

Comes with optional Rebel Alliance color scheme and logo toggle.

The Kuat Drive Yards Quasar IV

Quasar IV is a very versatile carrier, able to expand its base cargo substantially, upgrade and add thrusters for every direction, or weaponize its outer profile to displace a significant amount of forward firepower. Reforged Eden players choosing to utlize its compartments for shield, can see a full suite of 8/8/8 shield extenders placed.

Hello kindred Empyrion spirits!

Let me start with a request; please respect blueprint authors. Often it takes months to finesse a build, and to have it ripped and reuploaded without permission or even so much as credit, can be discouraging, often pushing such authors away from the community.

I personally don’t mind critical feedback, and constructive criticism, as it will serve me to better my builds. However, If you enjoy my content, and there is much more to come, respect my (and others) authorship of these massive timesinks. Thank You.

Special thanks to

Bonedog also has a nice harvester which will be needed for the many trees for the Quasar!

Armament

x6 Minigun turrets
x4 Sentry guns

Quasar spawns in as a carrier with only defense against drones. If all weapon points are utilized in a light cruiser configuration, the mounted weapon count can reach 24+. Turret count with forward focus can exceed 100+

Armor

The "light" in light cruiser is represented here in the armor category. Quasar is a carrier first and foremost, and it looks to lean heavily on a strong shield configuration to suit the light cruiser role. It does feature a sprinkling of armor, mainly at the forward bridge, and around critical devices such as CPU compartments. Beyond that however, the ship is predominately carbon to lighten the frame.

Thrusters

Quasar’s spawn in value is targeted for space carrier role, though with plenty of CPU potential, thrusters can easily be added to beef up lift or forward thrust.

The total upgradable slots will allow for a final x6 Drive/XXL thrusters for each direction with the exception of forward thrust which will allow for x13 Drive/XXL thrusters.

Features and Devices

Comes with x1 advanced constructor and 2 small constructors, with placement for several additional ones throughout the ship. Standard warp and shield come stock

Grow plot placement is 2×9, but captains can choose to utilize specialized farm modules (Helios and equivelent) to supplement Quasar’s small count.

Quasar has 3 bridges for redundancy and convenience, and the hangar has x4 TIE Enforcer docks on the ceiling.

Main ship menu has option to turn off gravity, spotlights, and toggle between Imperial and Rebel LCD logos.

Storage

2x24k Cargo (expandable)
2x56k Cargo (expandable)
1x80k Cargo
3x320k Cargo (one is expandable)

2x 320k Ammo

2x 320k Harvest

Among the many cargo compartments, the main cargo compartment will allow for Reforged Eden captains to change the cargo system between 16x320k systems, or 8x640k systems

Quasar’s spawn in cargo is modest, given that many captains wish to outsource cargo to modules. HOWEVER, if the internal compartments are utilized for cargo, Quasar’s total cargo can exceed 16 million.

Lore and History

The Quasar IV is the final run in the line of the Galactic Empire’s "cruiser-carrier" concept. The intial run of Quasars were plagued with flaws and shortcomings, which hamstrung the ship’s potential. The Quasar II saw limited production before that line was scrapped, when it was determined that many of the flaws of the Quasar I carried over, mainly the persistence of micro fractures within the ship’s hull.

A Quasar III line was proposed and designed, but by this point the Galactic Empire caught on to the micro fractures and other flaws being intentionally designed into the Quasar line by Sullust based SoroSuub Corporation, who had many Rebel Alliance sympathizers and operatives within their ranks. This caused a deep rift between the Empire and SoroSuub, resulting in Kuat Drive Yards inheriting the rights and properties of the Quasar Line.

With KDY now at the helm of the Quasar project, this resulted in a massive overhaul to the program. The Quasar receive a reconfiguration to its thrusters, and its hyperdrive bumping it up to a class 1. The two inner hangar doors were converted to cargo ship docking, which allowed the ship to operate in a limited fleet resupply capacity, something that was proposed since the Quasar could now keep pace with Star Destroyers. The Quasar kept its total fighter capacity, but the loss of two hangar doors meant that their deployment time was longer. This was offset to a large degree give the Quasar IV’s increase to firepower acting as a deterrence against would be attackers.

It is said that the Quasar IV was KDY’s crowning achievement in design, but to what extent they could determine the outcome of the Galactic Civil War would never be realized, given their limited production run before the Empire’s fall.
