Fukuoka Subway 2000 Series / 福岡市交通局2000系
The 2000 Series (2000系) is an EMU operated by Fukuoka City Subway on the Kūkō (Airport) and Hakozaki lines.
Introduced in 1992 prior to the Kūkō Line’s extension from Hakata to Fukuoka Airport, the 2000 series incorporates new technologies developed in the 13 years since the 1000 series’ production. VVVF control is used instead of the older chopper method, wheelchair spaces and LED displays have also been added. 36 cars were produced in 6 6-car sets. Renewal works were carried out on all sets from 2015-2021, these now feature new seats to improve comfort and train displays in 4 languages (Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean). In addition to the two subway lines, the type also operates through-running services on the JR Chikuhi Line.
