positive propaganda infamy
As the saying goes, money makes the world go round. But in V3, having loads of money only lets you farm. Does that make any sense?!
Of course not! Why should we, with all this wealth, still have to put up with such high infamy?
So now, we can openly throw money at propaganda to reduce that infamy!
This is a simple event mod that offers three options for reducing infamy by different amounts, along with some basic modifiers as compensation for the hefty costs. It is triggered via a decision.
Significantly reduced the costs. Now:
– First option: GDP * 1% + Infamy * GDP * 0.1%, capped at GDP * 4%
– Second option: GDP * 2% + Infamy * GDP * 0.2%, capped at GDP * 6%
– Third option: GDP * 3% + Infamy * GDP * 0.3%, capped at GDP * 8%
I haven’t yet reached a late-game save with over 1B GDP, so I’m not sure how this performs in the endgame.
Overall, the cost has been reduced by over 30%++.
Changed how money is deducted. Previously, it was taken directly from the balance, which is calculated weekly. For example, when deducting 0.1% of GDP, it actually removed [0.1% × 36 weeks = 3.6%] of GDP. Now, it takes money straight from the treasury — same effect, and in some cases even a slight buff (?) As a result, there’s now an additional one-time cost of 1% to 4% of GDP, depending on infamy level. Correspondingly, based on national prestige (tiers: 1000, 3000, 5000+), rank (Great Power, Major Power, Minor Power), and late-game techs (Mass Propaganda, Civilizing Mission, Unpredictable Alliances), you can get up to 5 extra points of infamy reduction for free.
1. Pay 3.6% of GDP to reduce infamy by 10–30 (depending on infamy level).
Gain some infamy-related buffs (vanilla values, but normally it’s very hard to get leaders with these buffs). Diplomatic maneuver is only active when initiating a diplomatic play. Improve relations with countries that are: allied, in a defensive pact, amicable, cooperative, or reconciled.
2. Pay 10.8% of GDP to reduce infamy by 30–50.
Reduce radicals from conquest, gain influence. Improve relations with countries that are: allied, in a defensive pact, amicable, cooperative, protecting, loyal, reconciled, or wary.
3. Pay 18% of GDP to reduce infamy by 50–70.
Gain authority. Improve relations with countries that are: allied, in a defensive pact, great powers, major powers, or minor powers.
- This mod focuses on preserving the vanilla experience, maintaining balance, and adding flavor. If you have better ideas for the numbers, feel free to let me know in the comments.
- The main goal is still infamy reduction ouo. Some modifiers — like diplomatic maneuver and truce effects — only take effect before a diplomatic play starts. Unfortunately, that can’t be changed, so just treat them as bonuses.
- The countries listed for relation improvements generally must meet these conditions: not a subject, and international rank at least minor power. This filters out nations that don’t really need relation improvements.
