Description:

Welcome to the last Frontier!

INTRO

The year is 1850 and the regions are becoming populated but they also feel disconnected from one another. They could sure use some help getting some critical infrastructure in place to help them rocket into the coming centuries bountifully.

ABOUT THE MAP

This map boasts in all kinds of terrain challenges, from plains, rolling hills, tall mountains, and large bodies of water.
You will use every type of transportation in this map to connect as many towns and industries as possible. Most of the towns are situated to help make a very busy corridor, it’s up to you on how to lay it out and how successful it will be.

There was previous terrain generation to help guide on what the final product is today. Meaning, this was not a blank map upon creation… I drew some inspiration from the generator and went with it. The rivers and mountains you see were all there in their vanilla glory and I just made them better. The only arbitrary feature is the lake at the top of the map completely separated from the other water features.
To help visualize, I have attached the generator screen along with the seed name. But please note, the water generation and mountain generation are not the default config values. You will have to increase the parameters in the generator config files to get the right sizes. But this is only if you somehow wish to mess about with the seed.

The names of the cities derive from real cities and towns in Oklahoma, USA. With the theme of the map, I decided to honor my Oklahoma Indian heritage and drew names from the real towns themselves. All of the cities in-game can be looked up on Google Maps. But I will spell them all out on here to help clarify their pronunciations.

  • Anadarko
  • Bokchito (bok-shee-tow)
  • Bokoshe (bo-ko-shay)
  • Catoosa (Kah-too-sah)
  • Chattanooga
  • Cherokee
  • Cheyenne (shy-anne)
  • Coweta (ko-wee-tah)
  • Eufala (u-fall-ah)
  • Hochatown (ho-sha-town)
  • Hula Lake
  • Kaw City
  • Lenapah (len-ah-paw)
  • Manitou (man-eh-tao)
  • Olustee
  • Ouachita (wosh-i-taw, not a real town, but a mountain range)
  • Owasso
  • Peoria
  • Pontotoc (pawn-to-tok, not a town, but a county)
  • Shawnee
  • Skedee
  • Skullyville
  • Tamaha
  • Tulsa (my hometown)
  • Wakita (wah-kee-tuh, also the location where the movie, Twister (1996) was filmed)
  • Wetumka
  • Wichita

All of the cities were hand placed, some strategically. But the industries, except for a few, were all generated. Some of the industries had to be tweaked and added to help with production and distribution. And the roads were obviously hand drawn as well. Freaking hate the road generation…

Map Statistics:
-size: huge 1:4
-starting year: 1850
-starting funds: $0
-time spent building map: ~12hrs

Don’t be alarmed about the funds, you can take out a loan right when you begin laying your infrastructure. It doesn’t really matter if I uploaded the map with funds because you would still have to pay interest. So I’m actually doing you a favor 😉
