EUROPA PERDITA + FALL OF THE EAGLES (REBOOT)
First of all, a special thanks goes to Aurelinus who published Fote + Ep Revised, a mod that allows you to start the game with ep+fote without crashing, and who allowed me to publish a modified version based on his mod.
Why this mod after all this time?
First of all, because Attila is my favorite title and the one I consider the most mature of the entire Total War series (if we leave aside the fact that historically Attila was not a villain who wanted to destroy everything. I am Italian and I know the history of my country a little : )
Furthermore, Europa perdita and fall of the eagles together are truly capable of bringing a Total War title to heights never reached in single player.
However, playing with the revised ep+fote version I realized that making them compatible was not enough to obtain the desired result. Both are excellent mods, but they deal with different aspects. That’s why I got to work. The intent is to reconcile two valuable pieces like these in a single mod, without distorting either one or the other. Those who try it will be able to tell me if I managed to achieve this result, so as to be able to contribute to making Attila great again. ^^
Important: this mod must be installed as part of a collection that I will link above and in the suggested order.
Changelog:
– The maintenance costs of only provincial and regional cities have been decreased, while the maintenance costs of all other buildings have remained unchanged. Economics remains a complex but less punitive aspect. The AI will have fewer problems developing its settlements, since the maintenance costs of the buildings have been lowered, but the level of challenge remains high.
Furthermore, large empires will have to restore the state coffers, but bankruptcy is avoidable if you manage the economic side well.
– Restored buildings creation times of Europa Perdita vanilla. (With some minor adjustment).
– restored the Roman onagers of fote: now they should be more useful against towers in sieges (but this needs to be tested);
– implemented a sophisticated AI campaign that works well with a deep modded diplomacy system. The enemies are ugly, dirty and mean, but also reasonable if it suits them. All these changes should also benefit War wearness, which however remains an optional module and which I have slightly modified. Battle AI remain unchanged;
– implemented a more realistic system for recruitment made by the AI;
– unlocked all options regarding the conquest of a settlement by other factions;
– now only some subcultures can form confederations;
– the AI will not be able to propose to become a puppet state, while some factions it will be able to propose to become a tributary;
– special resources have been improved: dyes; wood; salt: effect in the entire province, not just in the single region; lead +1 sanification from lv 1-3, lv 4 +2 sanification (all faction);
– now there are six total edicts: the 4 basic ones of the game, quarantine and a new edict created by me:
– Tolerance for Local Tradition: thanks to this edict, cultural differences within the province will be tolerated, not opposed. This brings public order benefits related to religious differences and a small bonus for tax, but also to penalties that prevent this edict from always being active: for example, the gradual decay, in the province, of the state religion, the increase in immigration and a big increase in building costs in the province. This edict is particularly useful with the WRE to try to stabilize England and Africa, without abandoning them to their fate.
– recommended difficulty: hard or very hard campaign, normal battles.
