Description:
DE Changes:
  • Fixed the shadows. I finally figured it out (it was the mod name being too long this whole time…). I did have to overwrite all the distant light probes in the game making this mod file size much larger. Just a heads up.
  • Made tweaks to all of the atmospheres to give them a better feel
  • Added light blue fireflies during nights
  • Added random rain puddles during storms (they stop appearing during combat to avoid floods)
  • Added ‘wet’ status during storms (more immersive and realistic I think)
  • Reduced chances of rain slightly
  • Cleaned up a lot of old code
  • It’s now compatible with the free cam movement mod
What it does

This mod creates a timer which keeps track of the time of day, then it changes the atmospheres where the player is located to match that time of day. The weather currently has only 4 random settings (fog, rain, heavy rain, sunny). There are areas which I excluded on purpose since it’s not fitting in those areas (like desert or lava).

I used a blue night setting to make the ground a little more illuminated at night – since the game wasn’t designed for this and true black night would make it nearly impossible to see where you’re going.

Bedroll

Using a bedroll will increase time by 1 in-game hour (will work even if you are already ‘rested’).

Current time settings

1 in-game hour = 3 mins
Day/Night = 10 in-game hours each (30 min day and 30 min night)
Dusk/Dawn = 2 in-game hours each (3 min dusk and 3 min dawn)

Notes

Indoor transitions are quick (on purpose to stop the rain). This may look odd, but due to how weather is tied in with the atmosphere it’s unavoidable. Also pausing the game will cause an instance transition (also unavoidable). Multiplayer is going to have some awkward moments as well. I can only turn off the rain for one player and therefore other players may notice it raining indoors while the host player is outside…

This mod is named "SIM_DA". I had to shorten it to make the light probes work. Just a heads up in case you’re trying to find it on your local drive.

Due to the many code changes, and additions, I’m sure there will be a bug or two I missed. Please let me know if you run into any. Thank you!

Edit: Removed wet status due to lag issue some players were having
