Description
Odakyu Series 3000 (first generation), nicknamed "SuperExpress", was an express type train that was introduced in 1957. With its jacobs bogies and extremely lightweight structure, it was a departure from conventional Japanese railcars, laying the foundations for high-speed railways and having a major impact on subsequent railcars.The innovative design of the train attracted a great deal of attention when it appeared in an eight-car formation and was used in limited express "Romancecar", and it became very popular; in 1968 it was shortened to five cars to serve the electrified JNR Gotemba Line, where it remained in service until 1992.
