A heavy infantry support weapon, the Z-6 rotating blaster cannon, nicknamed the "beam gun", designed for solo versus group combat, made its debut during the Clone Wars, although similar multi-barrel rotating cannons have appeared at other times across different cultures. Although the Z-6 was considered the most advanced of its kind, its use was limited during the Clone Wars.
