WRE/ERE Mob Levies (Leves Civitas)
I really liked using the mob units in Rome 2, so I created a variant for Attila as well! These are for the Roman factions in Total War: Attila, as other factions have similar mob-like units. Enjoy!
In this alternative timeline, the Western Roman Empire is out of funds. Not only out of funds as in overwhelming debt (though the empire is in overwhelming debt), but out of funds as in there is literally no more cash in the Western Roman Empire. In this desperate situation, instead of weeding out corruption and actually paying his troops, the Emperor has called upon every man and woman, trained or not, Roman or not, to go to the front line and fight against the Huns, roaming war bands, and Roman usurpers throughout the empire.

In an instant, thousands of civilians stepped forth with whatever they had: farming implements, spare equipment, slings, spare rocks, spare… anything. They could save the empire, because they BELIEVED.
From the forests of Hyberborea to the shores of Carthage (needs verification), our new warriors (needs verification) stepped forth to save the day, to reforge anew the days of Romulus and Augustus (NO WAY/ABSOLUTELY FALSE). Attila saw at least 200,000 of these people (what is this???) march forward in unison and went, "yeah I’m not dealing with this, I’m out".
Again, there’s a lot of assumptions at work for this scenario to work at this point. There’s a reason the Western Roman Empire is not here today lmaooo
The mobs come in three variants as very light Tier I infantry: female, male, and mixed groups. Their stats are identical. The mobs will struggle in any prolonged melee and are vulnerable to charges, similar to other missile units. However, their health and morale is high, which makes them suitable for holding chokepoints and distracting archers. Although their missile damage is extremely weak, their will to fight means that they make up for it in numbers, which are double the standard melee unit size (320 vs. 160).

They also have a small charge bonus, and are ideal for flanking after the legionary units lock the enemy in the front lines. Time this well, and at your own risk!
Their slings also come with a cool explosion effect (purely visual for balance purposes)! It shouldn’t affect the performance of battles significantly, please let me know if it does.

"Oh… my… god…"

I’ve added a test scenario for reference to see where our mobs should come into action. This is the WRE defense of Nitrahwa against the Visigoths. Their charge bonus should be good enough to sandwich/flank enemy units without keeping them in prolonged combat (basically micro-ing lmao). Feedback for balancing is appreciated!

Please let me know if you’d like me to create a variant of this mod for adding them to garrisons, and whether you’d like them in the WRE, ERE, or both the Western and Eastern Roman empire garrisons.
