Villa Standoff
Peaceful breeze, bright sunlight and refreshing seawater. Exactly what a good villa for the retired Eagle veteran should be.
Why not get off the couch and call your friends for a little party for old times’ sake? You called your old squadmates, all of them were eager to participate and get remarkably wasted with liquor and vodka and the next day you are all there to talk, drink and refresh good memories.
And then old wounds start itching, a sure sign something is coming. Something that smells like cheap booze afterburn, gunpowder and raven. You lose no minute getting your "accidentally" unrecorded firearms, decommissioned "expired" ammunition, and, most importantly, pizza leftovers as you hear the rotors of approaching aircraft. This is gonna be a looong day. And the damn generator spazzed out last evening, what a luck.
Meanwhile somewhere in Raven command another officer gets a medal for the bright idea of training new recruits the basics of offensive strategy on the little island in the middle of nowhere, where even the recruits themselves are not very likely to hurt each other.
Hold off the island from the virtually endless amount of enemy soldiers that decided that invading an island in the middle of nowhere is a good idea. Don’t let them capture the island, fight for 4 flags and be warned that they can send as many troops as they have to.
Can you hold the overwhelming Raven forces or will you be overrun and lose your villa before they run out of bodies (and boats) to throw at you? Frag around and find out!
2023 Revision: Reworked spawnpoints, improved navmesh (still garbage, but I tried), new (useful and used by bots) turret placements, some new details, AND DOUBLE THE BOATS FOR RAVEN *maniac laughter*
Due to the main idea of the map being set defence (which is not very popular "handicrafted" gamemode, so I made a map for myself basically :p) this map is totally not compatible with any gamemode that relies on random points rotation. If Raven Spawn points become the objectives, the gamemodes are likely to get stuck and break.
However, Battle and Point Match gamemodes suit the map very well for an endless (or limited by spawns) standoff. Spec Ops is a 2-sided coin (yes, all coins are 2-sided) – if you spawn in the villa its broken cause atleast one point will be on the raven spawn, if you get lucky to spawn on Raven spawn helipad, then its gonna be amazing, totally worth reloading for. (Though in about 3 hours I only got that to happen once, so, Spec-Ops is, basically, broken too, unless you have a vehicle spawner mod.)
-Recommended amount of bots?
– 30-50 for fair and fun game. If you want a perfect match of hell and sweat, 40 bots and give raven slight advantage via balance slider
-Why is there no carrier or anything on raven spawn? Why is it so cheap?
-Because autogenerated navmesh was causing bots to ignore all vehicles and swim by themselves. I tried DOZENS of workarounds and this is the single damn stable version; Im afraid to breathe in it’s way, not even talking about changing it.
-Why Raven never arrive to my island?
-The ONLY ways raven can reach your island are via RHIBs and Transport Helicopter. If you disable both of these (or replace with too big variants, see the screenshots for approx size limits) then they are effectively trapped on their spawn – check your config presets. Also, Transport Helicopter has a long respawn timer of 60 seconds after being destroyed.
-Eagle OP, vehicles get rekt?
-Disable Scalpels, give Raven some men advantage, trust me – they will have MORE than enough watercraft to absolutely wreck you.
