Fall of Europe ’89

In 1988, militants from Soviet Azerbaijan destroyed a Soviet oil refinery in Nizhnevartovsk, threatening to cripple the USSR’s economy due to oil shortages. In order to restore the country’s oil production, the Soviet Politburo decides to take the Persian Gulf and it’s rich oil productions. However, due to it’s close ties with NATO, they decide to first cripple NATO’s forces.
The USSR first stages a Maskirovka (or False Flag), by sending a KGB sleeper agent to bomb the Kremlin, which leaves many dead, including children. This leaves its people calling for retaliation. The Soviets plan to invade West Germany with the help of other Warsaw Pact nations, such as East Germany (GDR), Poland, and Czechoslovakia. They also plan on seizing the Baltic states, and Iceland to secure the strategically important G-I-UK gap.
On the first of June 1989, Warsaw Pact forces blitz through the meadows and fields of Fulda, Germany, breaking the Iron Curtain. The sudden invasion was unexpected by NATO commanders, even though multiple Spetsnaz units were caught trying to sabotage Early Warning Systems in Germany the nights before. Bundeswehr as well as US forces race to establish a defensive line to halt the Soviet advance before NATO REFORGER (REturn of FORces to GERmany) reinforcements arrive.

NATO, especially the US did not anticipate the Soviet invasion due to Soviet oil shortages preventing them from full mobilization. Nevertheless, Soviet forces occupied around 100 square miles of land before US forces arrived on the frontline. Utilizing the AirLand battle doctrine and brand new equipment such as the M1A1 Abrams and the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, combined US-NATO forces pushed back the Soviets within a couple of days.
This mod highlights the US Army’s equipment in 1989, and is mostly accurate to their doctrine. Some changes are made though due to limited resources on my behalf.

The Soviet Army was handicapped because of the terrorist attacks on Nizhnevartovsk, but still had just enough resources to take on NATO. Their vastly superior sizes compared to NATO garrisons in Germany made taking land during the first and second day of the invasion much easier. T-80’s. AK-74’s, and 6B3 vests and so much more
are included in the faction
-Some USSR vehicles have RHS crewmembers instead of Soviet Army units, which might break the immersion a little. A temporary fix is to spawn the vehicle without any crewmembers and put in the Soviet crewmembers yourself in Eden Editor.
-Anachronistic insignias, markings and identifiers may be present on vehicles. If you want maximum immersion, disable them in the attributes section yourself.
-No preview images on the editor yet, might come at a later date.
-some units might not have enough ammo, if so, report in the discussion tab.
-Updating equipment and vehicles as new updates for dependencies arrive.
-Adding new factions alongside existing ones
