Rodan has arrived to terrorize your airspace! This hot-headed horror has crept out of the hottest depths of the earth and is just as cranky as he is hungry, and destroying all of Aether sounds like a perfect appetizer…

Overview

Rodan is a large body bruiser/grappler who relies on constant burn damage and large hitboxes to rack up huge damage on his opponent while setting up for a truly mean down air command grab. Rodan wants to constantly keep the opponent on fire as he can consume burns to gain magma layers to enhance his defense and offense with armored attacks and the frighteningly furious Rodan Cancel!.

Magma Layers and Rodan Cancels

Several of Rodan’s attacks inflict burn, which can be consumed when landing FTilt, Utilt, Uair, Dair, and FSpecial. These give Rodan a Magma Layer, and he can store up to 4. These layers will give his strongs, USpecial, and Dair a hit of armor for each layer, and are lost upon being hit. If Rodan has two or more layers, pressing parry right after you hit the opponent will have Rodan consume two of his layers to briefly move so fast that time stops. Allowing him to gain much stronger followups by cancelling his endlag and repositioning himself.

Grievous Grabs!

Rodan’s Dair has him lunge downward with his talons extended, if successful Rodan will hurtle towards the ground with the opponent in order to land a series of painful pecks. However, if Rodan has any double jumps, he may jump and move around with the opponent in tow, and can attack whenever in midair when he finds a comfortable spot. Be wary however, as the stamina meter depletes fast against healthy opponents, and if it depletes, you lose any potential damage you may have had. Having Magma Layers slightly increases the amount of stamina Rodan has.

Foul Winds Blow!

Rodan’s FStrong will briefly cause a powerful gale to blow across the stage, pushing everyone on the stage slowly in the direction Rodan faced on use. These winds don’t effect Rodan himself unless he is in the air, which is perfect for giving him more distance with his DAttack and Dair grabs.

Woe! The Awful Jurassic Breath!

Rodan’s NSpecial will puff out his chest to knock any opponent away from him while he starts inhaling a great amount of air. This attack has three levels of charge that increase as the button is held after the chest bump. Releasing will use the attack prematurely. By default, Rodan will exhale a cyclone that drags the opponent towards him on hit. If the attack button is pressed while charging, Rodan consume a Magma Layer to fire an outward launching Radon Beam.

Dark Clouds Descend!

Rodan’s DSpecial is a strong stomp. In the air, this is merely a spike, but on the ground Rodan will create a large cloud of fiery ash in front of him. This smog deals damage over time to burning opponents, as well as making it so their burns never fade, even when Rodan consumes it for a Magma Layer. This cloud can be eaten by Rodan himself using his regular NSpecial or slightly moved with FStrong’s Wind.

Forgive me for this not being finished, college and all that we know the drill. Expect updates to be a bit slow but he will be all done and prettied up sometime soon.
