You can swap the control scheme and pilot seat on the fly from the panel to the left of the copilot seat!
Scheme A (Default):
W/S: Pitch
A/D: Roll
Up/Down: Collective
Left/Right: Yaw
Scheme B:
W/S: Collective
A/D: Yaw
Up/Down: Pitch
Left/Right: Roll
You can watch the youtube video from the gallery.
Read the labels on the seat. Enter the cockpit. On the rear side enable the main battery toggle. Head to the pilot/copilot seats. Get to know the controls. Turn on ECM, click autostart, turn on supercharger (if needed), increase RPS from the center lever to 4 for operational mode. Take place in the pilot seat and press 1 to enable idle mode. Wait until the engine rps readout reaches 2+, once the rps has settled around 4 you can disable idle mode (1) and operate the helicoper.
Never made a proper helicoper besides some attempts during my early hours in this game, so I went all out on this one and made it very capable in terms of speed, quality of life features and carrying capacity. It also comes with an optional water bucket.
My goal was to fulfill the requirements set by the skunkworks helicopter challenge, so it can enter the competition.
The main focus was to make a utility helicopter that will make career mode trivial and that can handle everything the game will throw at it.
Terrain follow will try to keep a healthy distance between the helicopter and the ground.
Terrain avoidance scans the terrain in front of the helicopter and avoids collisions by gaining altitude.
Precision steering mode will numb the controls down a fair bit while increasing the helicopters response to imbalancy by a similar margin. This allows for precise movement and also carrying cargo off the CoM/Lift axes, you can easily carry a container on the outer container slot (4.75m off axis).
The helicopter is powered by a 5×5 modular engine with 8 cylinders with toggleable supercharging for more power when needed.
Container connectors are operated from the touchscreen behind the pilot seat.
There are also buttons on the container holding frames to indicate the connector release state (lit up = released)
Activate the connectors by touching the related rectangles on the screen. X = release, filled square = ready to connect.
How to start:
- Enable the main battery relay in the rear wall of the cockpit
- (Optional) to the left of the copilot seat, set the preferred control seat (right seat is active by default) to control the helicoper
- (Optional) On the same panel switch to the preferred control scheme (WS AD for pitch/roll by default, will swap to LR UD for pitch/roll when enabled)
- Turn on ECM in the center console, followed by a press of autostart and turn on supercharger if needed
- Flip the switches for Nav. and strobe lights
Operating the systems:
Push-Fans:
For the push fans set RPS to 4 before engaging this mode, it is also mandatory to have at least 50m altitude above ground, and precision steering mode enabled.
If the helicopter is carrying more than 6 crates, engage the push fan throttle with caution. It will start to enable the push fans above a setting of 0.5 as a safety measure.
Radar:
The helicopter is equipped with an old school radar that can still detect an objects mass. Loot crates will be marked on the map.
Inventory:
You can find various inventory items, ropes, cables in the cockpit, in the exterior compartments outside the cockpit and near the cargo winches underneath the engine.
Heater:
When cold, the heater can be enabled from the instrument panel near the copilot seat.
I enjoyed working on this helicopter and hope you’ll enjoy it as well.
