Elite Blood Knights
A small mod reworking Blood Knights to be a true elite unit, balanced by increased recruitment cost and upkeep. I don’t consider this mod to be unbalanced compared to what is currently possible in the campaign by other factions, but I will let the mod speak for itself. Summary of changes
– The mass and unit size have been adjusted to feel similar to cold one knights, as to my mind Blood Knights should also be something between regular cavalry and monsterous cavalry, given that they are riding nightmares. In other words, they have more mass than regular cavalry, but still significantly less than demigryph knights for example. The smaller unit size also makes the unit feel more elite, as well as a balance for the other changes (artillery and magic are still the greatest threat to Blood Knights, as is the case with other elite cavalry units).
– Speed and agility have been kept close to a regular elite cavalry unit (but less than the elite dragon princes from my other mod).
– Basic combat stats, armour and leadership have been adjusted to be similar to dragon princes but with increased hp, given that we are talking about vampires rather than squishy elves. I have also given them similar armour-piercing to demigryph knights halberds, while decreasing the anti-large value to 10 and adding an anti-infantry value of 15, therefore allowing them to feel effective in a variety of encounters rather than the niche anti-large role it had before.
– Ability wise, I have given them ‘the hunger’ aka vampire regen, in addition to terror and encourage. This better represents their role as an elite vampire unit in an undead army.
– Finally, I changed their charge behaviour to ordered rather than chaotic, in addition to giving them the option to use the Bretonnia wedge formation. This recognises that many of these vampire knights at one point belonged to Bretonnia’s knightly orders.
– Recruitment cost and upkeep have been increased to make them slightly more expensive than royal hippogryph knights. Blood knights are now the most expensive non ROR cavalry unit in the game.
IMOP all of these changes make Blood Knights much more enjoyable to use, in addition to feeling closer to the lore. Enjoy!
Compatibility – literally the only things that were changed were data rows relating to Blood Knights only. Should be very compatible therefore unless you are using a mod that also changes Blood Knights, in which case either my mod or the other will likely just be overwritten. Adjust the load order as appropriate.
