Hello everyone, hope you all have been enjoying the new lord pack content.

Another mod for the Lizardmen, this time concerning a different part of the tech tree. I’m someone who doesn’t always go for the same mount each time with my generic lords, so I like some mount choices. Unfortunately, the Saurus Old Blood only has two mount choices in the vanilla version of the game, lacking the ability to ride a Horned One in to battle even though Kroq-Gar can. This was compounded to me with the Red Crested Skink Chief, who can mount a Horned One but not a Cold One. So, I went to work in allowing the Saurus Old Blood and the Red Crested Skink Chief some more mount choice, and then tweaking the required level in which you can get the mount options.

To do this, I had to make three new skills (One for the Saurus Old Blood, the Red Crested Skink Chief, and the Legendary Red Crested Skink Chief) and then push down the existing skills on the first tier of their skill trees to accomodate the change. Balancing the units themselves, assigning the right animations and dressing up the localisation entries rounded out the rest of the work.

FAQ

1) Is this mod save compatible? What will happen if I subscribe to this mod mid-campaign?
Yes it is, as the mod does not touch startpos. However, as it is a skill tree mod, if you have already taken the vanilla skill nodes in game, enable this mod, and then load up your campaign, then there is no guarantee that the skill node will change. So, for full effectiveness, I recommend that you start a new campaign or load up your campaign to a point before you picked these specific yellow line skills.

2) What is the mod not compatible with?
This mod specifically makes changes to the first tier of skill nodes to the Saurus Old Blood, the Red Crested Skink Chief, and the Legendary Red Crested SKink Chief, so any mods that touch those skill nodes is probably going to conflict.

3) Well, what about the campaign overhaul I use? (Grimhammer, Lucky’s, Vox Populi, Radious, etc.)
I have no clue as I don’t use campaign overhauls, but as conservative guess would be no. If there is enough interest in a particular overhaul, then I will consider making the mod compatible.

4) Why did you change the level requirements for the mounts?
I did my best in mirroring how the level requirements for Kroq-Gar went as he was a good reference on what level requirements to expect as he can ride both a Cold One and Horned one.

5) Are you considering other mount additions? For example, giving Saurus Scar Veterans the ability to mount Horned Ones as well?
Only if I really want to and there’s a good enough case for it, since I know there’s plenty of mods on the workshop that have already added Griffons as a mount choice for High Elves, as an example.
