Extended Murex Fisheries Range
Hexaplex Trunculus, the species of "murex" sea snail responsible for the ancient Mediterranean dye Royal Purple (not to be confused with Tyrian Purple from Bolinus Brandaris) has a range that extends much further than the boundary set by vanilla CK3—the boundary that defines which counties can construct the Murex Fisheries line of buildings. Murex fishing, for the purpose of creating red and purple dyes, was historically practiced in the Black Sea, Portugal, Morocco, and the Canary Islands, not just in the inner Mediterranean. This mod modifies the Murex Fisheries boundary to reflect this extended range.
I also view this mod as a kind of balance patch. Mediterranean islands in all their forms are some the most powerful and narratively-focused locations in the game. I don’t think they needed even more development through an exclusive duplicate of the Tradeport building line. The areas this mod affects are interesting starts, but relatively less developed and with less favorable terrain for quickly increasing development, meaning they would’ve benefitted from this addition a lot more than the areas that got it. All-in-all, this mod is designed to help kingdoms like the Canaries, Galicia, and Bosporan (Crimea) keep pace with powerhouses like Sicily, Venice, and the Papacy.
Technical Details:
Edited `building_murex_farm_requirement_terrain` to include not just the geographical region `mediteranean_coast`, but also the geographical regions:
• `black_sea_coast_region`
• `world_europe_west_iberia`
• `world_africa_north_west`
Also removed the restriction on baronies `b_salmydessus` and `b_chelai`.
This mod edits gamecommonscripted_triggers 0_building_requirement_triggers.txt.
It is compatible with any mod that does not edit that file.
If this mod is out of date, it will still work if the newest game update does not edit that file. Otherwise it may cause newly defined building requirement triggers to become undefined.
Load order does not matter.
