Description:

This is a Trebizond mission expansion mod based on the vanilla game, adding extra content for the Kingdom of Trebizond. It contains a significant amount of subjective content and lacks balance adjustments; any feedback and suggestions after playtesting are highly welcome.

**NEW** This mod also provided a lite version, which only adds the new mechanics to the Orthodox religion:
Eastern Orthodox Enhancement Effect: Eternal Radiance of Oikoumene.

DO NOT enable both at the same time to avoid experience issues caused by file conflicts!!! Special Tip: This mod adds extra interactions to the Religion, Military, Province, and Government interfaces. It has file conflicts with other mods that modify these GUI interfaces. If you encounter mission rewards that prompt "Enable XX interaction in XX interface" but they do not actually take effect, please troubleshoot on your own. Thank you for your understanding!!!

This mod adds an extra Papacy-like interface for the Orthodox Church. The top right of this interface provides a total of 8 buttons that allow Patriarchal Authority in exchange for buffs; the middle of the interface displays the status of the Pentarchy. After achieving the restoration of the Five Patriarchates, you are allowed to click the double-headed eagle icon in the center to convene an Ecumenical Council; after each Ecumenical Council, you can unlock any one of the religious reform items at the bottom of the interface and, after meeting the conditions, carry out either of the mutually exclusive left or right reforms. Please note: In the current version, not all religious reform items can be withdrawn.
After the fall of Constantinople to the Fourth Crusade in 1204, Trebizond suddenly became one of the three political and cultural centers of the rapidly disintegrating Roman Empire’s remnants. The grandsons of the tragic last ruler of the Komnenos dynasty, Andronikos Komnenos—Alexios Komnenos and his brother David Komnenos—with the assistance of Queen Tamar of Georgia, marched west from the Pontus region along the southern shore of the Black Sea, all the way to Bithynia, intending to compete with rivals in Nicaea and Epirus. However, successive invasions by Nicaean and Seljuk armies completely shattered all their previous efforts. Although several monarchs thereafter attempted to expand the territory, their national strength, which was too weak compared to neighboring powers, seemed to have long foretold the failure of these military operations. Trebizond was lucky; the natural barrier of the Pontic mountains protected it, allowing it to survive centuries of turmoil and war in the Near East. With its mild and suitable climate, unique geographical advantages, and relatively stable social environment, it once became an important port for Black Sea trade and the Northern Silk Road. But Trebizond was also unlucky; even just surviving while surrounded by powerful neighbors was destined to cost a lot. This pitiful small country was forced to sign trade agreements with Venice and Genoa and successively became a vassal of Georgia, the Seljuk Empire, and the Mongol Empire. In 1444, to the east, the once powerful and closely linked Kingdom of Georgia is teetering; to the south, the Aq Qoyunlu, who maintain long-standing marriage ties with Trebizond, still firmly control the surroundings of Diyarbakir, and the vigorous Prince Uzun Hasan has ambitions and vision far beyond ordinary people; to the west, the Palaiologos dynasty, successors of the former rival Lascaris dynasty, huddle in the dilapidated Constantinople, barely maintaining the legacy of the empire, while the Ottoman Empire established by the Turks is growing stronger day by day. Although the old Sultan Murad II is advanced in years and only wants to maintain the status quo, his successor is completely different; the pious and cruel Mehmed II is restless and eager to consume all enemies. If the weak Trebizond can meet a determined and sharp heroic ruler to accumulate strength and rise at the right time, perhaps it is not impossible to rebuild a great undertaking. But Ioannes IV Komnenos is still unaware of the approaching danger; this so-called "Empire" established by the remnants of Andronikos is inevitably marching towards its final moment.
