Workshop Maps in Bonus Maps
There are many awesome single-player maps on the Black Mesa Workshop.
So you subscribe many of those awesome maps.
You run the game and open the console to play one of the maps.
But you forget what exactly you should type in to the console to play the map.
If you play Black Mesa with the default UI, this won’t bother you much because you can access each of the addons you subscribed to. But, if you play Black Mesa with the ‘-oldgameui’ parameter, you don’t have many options. You’ll have to either type ‘map ‘ and search through a long list of map lists, or open the workshop page to find out what exactly the map name is.
To me, the default UI always flickers and causes a huge amount of lag. I don’t have any other option but to play Black Mesa with the ‘-oldgameui’ parameter.
So, searching through the map list or workshop page is very annoying to me. That’s why I made this addon.
Now includes submitted maps for LambdaBuilds #3 Competition, ‘Escape From Black Mesa’ too!
This addon will add many maps available on Black Mesa Workshop as bonus maps so you can play them easily.
No more typing, just clicking!
Make certain that you installed the Improved Bonus Maps Dialog addon rather than simply subscribing to it!
If you don’t care about the cool map icon on the Bonus Maps menu, just subscribe to this addon. It will work.
But if you want some cool map icons on the Bonus Maps menu, you must manually extract map icon files into the directory where you installed Black Mesa.
First, go to this directory:
You’ll see the ‘BonusMap.vpk’ and ‘MapIcon.zip’ files. Extract the ‘MapIcon.zip’ file’s content to match the directory structure. For example, the ‘maps’ directory should go under ‘Black Mesa/bms’ so it would become like ‘Black Mesa/bms/maps’.
Here is a list of what maps are listed in this addon.
This addon won’t automatically subscribe to these maps, so you must subscribe to each of these maps!

Some maps submitted to LambdaBuilds #3 have some flaw that makes them unable to be loaded without renaming or relocating their map. Unfortunately, I can’t do much about them. I will list the maps in my addon, but you won’t be able to play them until the author fixes their addon.
*: This map’s name is ‘lb_comp3_(after_hours)’ and the bracket causes BM not be able to load this map.
**: This map is in the wrong directory.
***: This addon is just a BSP map file, not a VPK addon file, and in the wrong directory.
****: This addon is not packed into a VPK addon file, so BM can’t load it.
I included a temporary fix script file for Windows. This will rename or relocate map files into one VPK file and put the VPK file into your ‘custom’ directory. You must edit the script file before using it, or it won’t work as intended!
I’ve also made a collection of maps that includes all of these maps.
Map descriptions and map icon images are taken from each map’s workshop page.
Do not post your question or bug report as a comment. I think posting them under discussion is much more appropriate.
