Hattori Fix for Better Ambush Deployment
This mod is included in Shogun 2 Enhanced.
This is a fix for an 8 year old mod, which I had re-uploaded to Workshop 3 years ago, damn.
Since Better Ambush Deployment mod breaks guerrilla deployment in ambushes, it nerfed Hattori quite a bit, ironically making them worse at what should have been their best. The only way I’ve seen to fix that is to remove guerrilla deployment ability altogether, which The Rights of Man 3 team have done. As with TROM3, this mod replaces guerrilla deployment with Paths Seldom Trot ability for Hattori (and related, see below) units. The new ability allows units to lay ambush anywhere on the campaign map, not just forests.
Its actual impact would probably be minimal though, as it requires all units in the army to have this new ability. Having even a single unit without this ability in your army (such as cavalry, which importantly includes GENERALS) reverts the ambush rules to default. So I also reduced the upkeep for Hattori ashigaru and samurai units, as they had higher upkeep than their peers. These should make Hattori more viable, the new ability can also open up new strategies for the player to compensate for removal of guerrilla deployment.
Should be compatible with almost everything, also works on existing save games. It doesn’t really require Better Ambush Deployment, but there is very little reason to use this without that.
