Description:

Inspired by the Project 1293 designs, this hypothetical Project 1144.5 design presents a "maxed-out" configuration of the Kirov hull, equipped with double the amount of Shipwreck anti-ship missiles, twin AK-130 guns aft, and other more minor changes. Some history to these ships, developed concurrently alongside the main Project 1144 Orlan during the 1970s, Project 1144.5 was intended to shed the anti-submarine role almost in its entirety, in favor of a significantly increased anti-ship capability. Built alongside the Kirov Class at the Severodvinsk shipyards, 6 ships would be ordered, with 4 ultimately laid down and commissioned into the Soviet Navy between 1976 and 1988. Those ships being Sevastopol, Tashkent, Suvarov, and Arkhangelsk, with the two unbuilt ships tentatively to be named Omsk and Vladivostok. Often known as the "Super-Kirov" in Western defence circles, the Sevastopol Class ships would make their way into three of the Soviet Union’s main four fleets, with Sevastopol and Tashkent finding themselves assigned to the Black Sea Fleet, Suvarov to the Pacific Fleet, and Arkhangelsk to the Northern Fleet. In 1986, Suvarov would find herself deployed to the Sea of Japan, shadowed by NATO warships, in response to Chinese aggression towards Soviet Pacific Fleet warships.

So I figured after giving NATO several fun toys, I ought to give the Soviets a few things to play with too, so more like this coming, but I do have more NATO ships planned as well, so, stay tuned.
