Lebor Laignech, ‘Book of Leinster,’ was written in the 12th century (it was previously called Lebhar Na Núachongbála, and Leabhar Glinne Dá Locha, also written in the 12th century was a different ‘Book of Leinster’), likely for Diarmait na nGall of Rí Laighín, and it is one of the most important Celtic texts available today! Supposedly, it was ‘lost’ until the 17th century with its whereabouts uncertain. With this in mind, it is not impossible to conclude that anyone with access to it could’ve taken this book to heart and decided to reconstruct Celtic Paganism earlier rather than later (Mesodruidism / Neodruidism). Anyway, that’s exactly what this mod sets out to do!! Lebor Laignech not included.
This mod is likely not compatible with other mods that add some flavor of Celtic Paganism (TFE and the I:R to CK3 Converter so far), but your results may vary.

Hullo! My name is Saticon, and I am a Celtic Reconstructionist. While I have a deep love for this game and many of the mods that have been created alongside it, I haven’t come across too much that I feel accurately portrays Celtic Paganism as we know it today. It should be noted that while the original faith was never referred to as "Druidism", it is a convenient term that I think most of us are familiar with, and thus I have named what we now call Paleodruidism (truthfully just Celtic Paganism) as Druidism in this mod.
Here are some of the inconsistencies that I have encountered:
- Only Men are Druids:
Tacitus recorded women as Druids, there is evidence within Irish literature with the term ‘Druidesses’, and there is an overwhelming amount of additional evidence within various pieces of Celtic folklore that places women in highly regarded, very powerful positions (such as Medb, Scáthach, Aífe, Boudicca, etc). I have represented this in-game by setting the Gender Laws of both faiths to Equal. I have not opted for Male Preference anywhere due to the sheer number of historical women in Celtic folklore that served as Druidesses, warriors, queens, and more. - Random Assortment of Gods:
While there are likely hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of gods (Áes Sídhe, Tylwyth Teg, etc) that are unique across a number of different tribes/cultures, the ones I see that are selected are often inconsistent with each other, or they are selected among the ones we know next-to-nothing about (typically of a Gaulish flavor i.e. Cernunnos, Sucellos, etc). All of the Áes Sídhe that I have included in this mod are from the Four Irish Cycles, as that is what I am familiar with. If you would like me to create alternative versions for different regional flavors, feel free to comment below! I would love to work with you!!
"Specifically referring to Celtic Paganism, Druidic followers believe that in order to honor Áes Sídhe properly that they must practice their faith as their ancestors have. With them, there are Fáidh who will divine their futures as seers, Filid who will keep their stories and myths as bards, and Druids who will oversee all rites and deliver judgment upon all."
While it is almost unanimous today that human sacrifices were never right to do, it is still technically what the ancient Celts did (even if there is debate as to whether they were voluntary or not). Druidism also tends to lend itself to being more organized due to the nature of the Druids, and the Druids were a major part of ancient Celtic Paganism that some believe should still be represented as best as possible today, even if the definition has changed.
Tenets:
- Gruesome Festivals
- Sanctity of Nature
- Ritual Celebrations
