[WOTC] Hacking Proficiency
Haywire Protocol is quite a unique ability. It has the potential to temporarily seize control over robotic units, or stun them when chances are too low. However, instead of simply failing when the hack isn’t successful, it grants the robot a significant stat boost as a feedback effect.
This combined with how unreliable hacking can be as enemy tech defense improves only sways players away from using the skill in the first place.
Can you believe that this ability was far stronger before XCOM 2’s release?[cdn.discordapp.com]
I was recently informed by a skilled developer that this was how Haywire Protocol worked in the demo version of the game. The source code for the hack reward still exists within the game to this day.
With that in mind, this mod restores Haywire Protocol back to its original hack rewards: shutdown, temporary control, and temporary control with a stat boost. To preserve balance, the hack failure effect will also grant the targeted unit +10 aim, +10 defense, and +50 hack defense.
This mod works both mid-campaign and mid-tactical.
