The mod, as you have already guessed, aims to enrich the Ironborn gameplay with the new, lore-friendly and immersive options. My intention is to do my best to make them stand-out compared to other cultures while being faithful to the book series as close as possible.

You need to play as a landed ruler of Ironborn culture on the Iron Islands to experience the content added by the mod.
The submod must be placed below the main mod in the launcher.

Overview of the currently implemented content:
The Old Way and The New Way mechanics and events
  • Throughout their history, the Iron Islands have been torn between two types of rulers. Some of them dreamed of reviving the times when the Ironborn ruled the Sunset Sea with steel and fire (the so-called Old Way). Others believed that there was another path, the New Way, based on trade and peaceful coexistence with the Green Lands.
  • All rulers of the Ironborn with a title of count or higher will use a decision in the first month of the game that determines their allegiance to one of these "parties". This will grants them a corresponding trait.
  • A player can choose any Way regardless of their personality. For the AI, the choice of the Way is determined semi-randomly – it will tend to choose «the party» that aligns with the character’s traits, attributes, lifestyle, etc.
    However, there will always be a small chance that a character with a strong military background might choose the New Way (as was the case with Quellon Greyjoy, father of Balon) and vise verse. By default, most Ironborn will lean toward the Old Way, while reformists will often be in the minority. Nevertheless, a wise and cautious ruler can gradually shift this balance of power.
  • The chosen Way unlocks access to new options in events (currently only those added by the submod), as well as new decisions and unique events specific to the Way.
  • The chosen Way will provide corresponding bonuses and penalties, encouraging either a more peaceful or warlike playstyle.
  • The trait of the chosen Way, among other things, imposes a significant penalty to relationships with characters from the opposing "party," creating a dynamic of conflict on the Islands.
New Events
  • The mod adds 14 new events reflecting the unique culture, customs and religion of the Ironborn. These events were created following the same principles the AGOT developers used when designing their events (read their article on the subject here ). It means that the focus is on roleplay and the richness of choice rather than mechanical bonuses and penalties from events.
  • As an Ironborn ruler, decide the fate of your thralls; defend your devotion in the eyes of the priests of the Drowned God; manage the only wealth the Iron Islands possess (that is, iron); and more.
New Decisions
  • Choose Your Way: Select your Path to unlock the associated bonuses and challenges.
  • Build the Iron Fleet: As a ruler of the Iron Islands, construct the Iron Fleet to unlock a series of powerful bonuses, including a new MAA type.
  • Tax Policy: As a Follower of the New Way, impose a tax on "salt wives." Followers of the Old Way, on the other hand, can instead levy an increased tax on septs.
New Unique Dynasty Legacy Tree for House Harlaw
  • Combine the wealth of your lands, proximity to the mainland, and the fearsome reputation of your dynasty to claim your rightful place as the most powerful bannerman of the Greyjoys. After all, as Asha once said, "even the fiercest bent beneath the scythe…"
New Men-at-Arms
  • House Harlaw Reapers: Heavy infantry exclusive to House Harlaw’s dynasty, these fearsome warriors trade protection for increased damage.
  • Iron Fleet Crew: Available to any ruler of the Iron Islands who completes the "Rebuild the Iron Fleet" decision. The best of the best, they represent the most formidable infantry available to the Ironborn, capable of rivaling any elite unit from the Green Lands.
