TGV POS Pack
The TGV POS (POS for Paris – Ostfrankreich – Süddeutschland, in French: Paris – Est de la France – TAllemagne du Sud) is a tricurrent TGV designed and produced by Alstom for the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF) in the 2000s, on the occasion of the opening of the LGV Est européenne,
in order to provide services beyond Strasbourg to Germany and Switzerland where the power supply is 15 kV 16.7 Hz. Unlike the first high-speed lines, but as with the LGV Méditerranée, the SNCF did not put entirely new trains into service.
Indeed, the 19 TGV POS are in fact the assembly of new three-current locomotives and coupon for Network cars. The series is best known for the 4402 trainset, which holds the world rail speed record.
