Era Star Overhaul
Introducing three new era stars, namely Collector Stars, Theologist Stars, and Visionary Stars, this mod enhances the gameplay experience by offering additional play styles for era progression. In each era, players can earn two stars from each of the new stars.
Collector Stars are rewarded based on access to resource types. They are available from the Ancient until the Medieval Era.
Manufacturer Stars are only available in the Early Modern Era and rewarded for the number of Luxury Manufactories owned.
Tycoon Stars are only available in the Industrial Era and rewarded for the number of adjacent Market Districts to Train Stations. Market Districts give a synergy bonus of +2 Money with Train Stations now.
Globalist Stars are only available in the Contemporary Era and rewarded for the number of Market Districts adjacent to Airports. The vanilla game already gives a synergy bonus of +5 for this.
Theologist Stars are obtained by constructing Holy Sites, granting one star for each Holy Site. Foreign Holy Sites can also contribute to the number if they are converted as their state religion.
Visionary Stars are earned by building cultural wonders. The first wonder constructed in each era awards the first star, while the second star requires one or two additional wonders, depending on the number of natural wonders owned and the number of total players.
To amplify the role of technology in era progression, six Scientist Stars are now available.
Builder Stars rely on a wider range of construction events, including Settlement Improvements, Holy Sites and Cultural Wonders. The city count is accounted for in the formulas so that Metropolists have somewhat better chances despite having limited settlement improvements. This doesn’t completely eliminate the advantage of having multiple cities though. However, having multiple cities also requires more investment into building all the improvements. Having built natural wonders will also slightly benefit the era star goals.
Militarist Stars encompass more events such as war declarations, units killed by the aggressor, discovered agents from the spy initiator, and created nuclear units.
By default, this mod increases the required era stars for era progression to 2 in the Neolithic Era and 14 in all subsequent eras.
This mod brings balance to the progression mechanics, allowing for diverse play styles, particularly in mods that require more stars per era for progression. The dominance of expansionism is mitigated as building, science, diplomacy, religion, and trade carry more weight.
Please note that this mod has undergone limited testing, especially in terms of balance and formula thresholds. While the formulas appear sound on paper, their validity has not been fully validated. It’s possible that some stars are too easy or too difficult to achieve. Relevant feedback will be appreciated, including the difficulty setting, map size, landmass over water ratio, player slot count, and game speed.
Please consider that fame bonuses are awarded per star. This means 6 small fame bonuses amount to 3 medium ones.
Mediocre bonuses are between small and medium ones.

- The game shows three available stars above two-star era star types. This is only a visual glitch. The badges are correctly shown, silver for the first, gold for the second star.
