Italia Invictus ~ The Age of Italian Might
It is the year 1968, and the world is in great turmoil. Even with Italy dominating Europe, the age of Italian might is being questioned. Although Italy has enjoyed the time they have had as the main superpower, the world always changes. Now, Italy’s dreams of an eternal imperium is in trouble. Only time will tell if the new monarchies of Europe along with the imperium will last.

Lore:
1915 – 1918 (WWI) | Italy joins the Entente and sweeps through Austrian defenses, bringing an early yet crucial campaign against Austria for the Entente. Italy manages to clear Austria by December of 1917, bringing in more leverage for peace against Germany. Germany is hit hard by offensives on the Western and Southern fronts, even after knocking out Russia out of the war in March of 1918 through revolutionaries. By July 19th, 1918, Germany surrenders, and peace ensues.
December 14th, 1918 (Treaty of Versailles) | Germany was to be stripped of its military, and had the Rhineland region demilitarized. Italy was able to gain some land in Croatia, but an independent Yugoslavia was to be formed. Due to this conference, Italy saw little gain for the amount of work they did throughout the war.
1918 – 1927 (Russian Civil War) | With Russian revolutionaries bringing about a Soviet regime in Russia, the whites were not too happy about their new overseers. Thus, civil war broke out, and western Europe supported the white regime. For a while, the reds were being beaten down by the whites. But soon, a ultranationalist black front broke out within the whites in 1922, meaning the war was now a three way. In 1926, the reds collapsed, soon the whites collapsed too. Now, the ultranationalists were spearheading Russia.
1922 – 1923 (Italian Civil War) | Dissent was spreading around the country, leading to division among italy. Popular support was still with King Emmanuel III (1869-1947), but ultranationalists like the widely unpopular Benito Mussolini (1883-1923) were still able to hold fascist militant groups to try and take the country. The fascist groups lost however, and Mussolini was assassinated, leading to more popular support for the king.
1929 – 1937 (Depression Era) | The great depression begins, and a coup in Germany in 1931 leads to the rise of Adolf Hitler (1889-1943), who would lead an ultranationalist regime that would begin to ally with Russia. Italy aligns itself with Poland, who recently produced a new Polish monarchy after marrying with an Italian noblewoman. They would also ally with Ethiopia, and making sure they didn’t get in any trouble. With this, Italy sees support from the allies, and antagonism from the Berlin-Moscow Axis. Japan makes moves on China, which is condemned by the international community, but secretly makes treaties with Italy. The US sees turbulent times after Herbert Hoover is reelected and assassinated in 1934, leading to the new presidency the unpopular Charles Curtis. After his presidency, the Republican party splits, and Franklin Roosevelt steps up to the presidency. Germany annexes Austria and the Sudetenland, leading to more tension. Now, the tides are set for a new war.
1938 – 1947 (WWII) | The war kicks off after Hitler tries to annex more of Czechoslovakia, which is protected by Italy. The war seems to be going no where, so Germany declares on Poland, which drags in allied support. Now, Russia enters the war to help Germany take Poland. Poland is quickly broken, and the king of Poland is moved to Italy. In the east, Japan is unbothered by any thing, so they declare on China to take them out. This would last until 1944, when Italy would make a peace between the two. Italy manages to survive, taking out Germany and splitting in into multiple kingdoms, and pushing Russia back into a monarchy. Italy turns on the allies, and quickly takes balkan territories and African colonies. As Italy pushes to France, a peace deal fires with Washington and London, brokering peace in February of 1947. In this period, the Italian Imperium has been born.
1947 – Present (Post-War Era) | The world is now at peace, and Italy controls much of the Mediterranean. Poland increases its power, making sure it could never be invaded again. Throughout much of the rest of Europe, monarchies are put in charge, and smaller states are now free. In Africa, Italy holds many of the colonies that other powers used to have. After the war, much of the parts unclaimed by Italy break apart. Throughout the years, southeast Asia has become a hotspot for revolutionary activity. Indochina is now a socialist union, and Indonesia has become socialist too. In this post war world, radicalism has spread around the world. Civil wars are happening in China, India, Mexico, Kongo, and Turkey. Now, only time will tell if the Imperium will last.
