EXERCISE BRIPAL 2024: OPERATION GRINDSTONE
MISSION BRIEFING
OPFOR has taken control of Naval Airbase and Mountain Airbase in a surprise attack, and has had time to construct fortified bases and defenses in preparation for a BLUFOR counterattack. However, due to a successful evacuation and planned retreat, BLUFOR’s forces are perfectly positioned to break through as hostile forces have spread themselves too thin. BLUFOR— that’s us— will form a spearhead to push through FOXTROT PASS, the southern path to Mountain Airbase.
FOB Oasis will be the ground assault’s first target. OPFOR has made a critical error constructing a logistics outpost so close to enemy territory, and must now commit its forces to defending at length against the full brunt of our firepower. Once FOB Oasis is taken, BLUFOR will have all the foundation it needs to launch a full-scale assault on multiple fronts. To organize this assault, we’ve identified three key mission objectives:
OPERATION DERVISH RED
OPFOR’s main fuel reserve has been moved close to the frontlines to simplify enemy logistics, but it is heavily defended by electronic warfare and air defense units. Performing a raid in this area will draw defenders away from the main attack and reduce their ability to counterattack. Lancer Squadron will provide scouting and electronic support to counter the presence of enemy jammers in the area while our special forces unit infiltrates the nearby airfield.
OPERATION HAMMER BLUE
The crown jewel of OPFOR’s fleet is the XC-02L Lampade-R air cruiser, which also made an appearance in last year’s exercises and underwent a refit based on the exercise’s combat data. The new Lampade-R features multi-purpose mission modules and a revamped flight deck, allowing it to suppress our air units from extreme distance. Splashing this asset will be top priority for Objective B. Gazer Signal Battalion has been assigned to track the Lampade’s movements from FOB Oasis.
OPERATION OHLONE GREEN
Satellite imagery and geological scans have identified the construction of a fortified underground railway system through the mountain range near Mountain Airbase, and at least two armored trains have been seen transiting the tunnels to provide overwatch over Foxtrot Pass. As the HQ lies directly in the path of our units, it must be destroyed. Golem Battalion will be the spearhead for this operation as well as the final push to Mountain, so providing support for them will be the top priority for Objective C.
Completion of at least two of the three key mission objectives is necessary to open up the path to Mountain Airbase. Do not hold back; Take back our home at all costs.
