Eclipsed Crown: 724 AD (Beta 0.9.7.1)
As our mod is only at beta level, in the current phase partial localization of English may have shortcomings, welcome correction!
It is 724AD, storm is gathering. Fueled by blade and gold, spreaded by greed and intrigue, the sparks are growing in dark, ready to start a wildfire that will consume the whole world: the Arabic governor of Khorasan, on it’s way of eastward expansion, will soon clash with Türgesh Khaganate, a march of Tang Dynasty with questionable allegiance.
Following the grand Muslim conquests, the Caliphate rapidly became one of the greatest empires in the world, yet the conquerors have not learned the essential art for governing vast territories yet. Despite still having strong impetus of expansion, issues like struggle between southern-northern arabians and uprising in conquered nations are all foreshadowing even more lethal disaster.
The Basileus of Nova Roma craves to start a wave of Iconoclastic movement. As the Eastern Roman Empire has lost its breadbasket of Aegyptus and barriers in Oriens, it is doubtless that religious disagreement will lead to more troubles to the already chaotic empire. Even worse, the kingdom of the Lombards find themselves at a convenient post for intervening high authority of Christendom, at the doorstep of furious Roman pope…
In the Gallic lands of the old days, Merovingian kings are nothing more than a prisoner of their maiordomus. The true ruler Charles, by defeating or placating many of his rivals, secured his power and spreader Frankish tentacles up to Alemannia frontier. But before he leads the Carolingians to gain papal favor and be anointed, he has much more difficulties to deal with — such as the Saracens in the south of Pyrenees.
The storm is gathering, the earth is tremoring. Millions holding their sword, waiting for a great conqueror to take his crown, to win his victories and ultimate glory…
