Bakelite a plastics is produced from the raw materials fuel (benzene), wood (wood powder) and a handful of different chemicals, including dyes for the individual colouring of the resulting raw materials, in a somewhat extensive and bit more energy-intensive process. The factory that employs 90 workers more as the vanilla factory produces at max. production 16 tons of finest Bakelite daily.
Bakelite was one of the first plastic-like materials to be introduced into the modern world and was popular because it could be moulded and then hardened into any shape. Bakelite, formally polyoxybenzylmethyleneglycolanhydride, is a thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin, formed from a condensation reaction of phenol with formaldehyde. The first plastic made from synthetic components, it was developed by Leo Baekeland in Yonkers, New York, in 1907, and patented on December 7, 1909
