Description:
ABOUT:

This mod adds a custom skirmish, Forest Dash, and brings the skirmish game mode to the stunning Nijmegen map from the Airborne DLC, as well as the beautiful Frontlines Siegfried Line map introduced in the community update. Built on the foundation of the Hürtgen Forest skirmish from the Liberation DLC, it retains the same units and doctrines for all skirmishes. Additionally, the Sherman III Late and the VC Firefly, which feature in the original Nijmegen mission, have been added to all doctrines in the Nijmegen skirmish.

UPDATES:
UPDATE 3:

– Added a new self-made custom skirmish battle to the available skirmishes: Forest Dash. The battle itself is fictional but takes its inspiration from the heavy fighting of 1944 around villages such as Schmidt and Vossenack, and from the constricted terrain of the Kall Valley as a whole. The skirmish is intended to be somewhat difficult, so be aware that even on lower difficulties, the ai will provide you with enough of a challenge. Enjoy!

– Programmed an additional and simple target prioritisation system for some ai artillery and AT systems in the Forest Dash map. The LeFH 10.5cm light field howitzers and sFH 15cm Heavy Field Howitzers will remember the locations of enemy movement and bombard these areas with great determination. The 8.8 FlaK units will now prioritise firing at particular enemy vehicles, such as tanks and heavy artillery systems. These changes were made to mitigate AI artillery inactivity, as the AI tends to target specific units rather than use the attack ground (F6) command like players do, which, in the case of the artillery, results in a significantly lower damage output. Mortars do not seem much affected by these issues, often bombarding targets mercilessly and without pause, so they are left as is.

– Minefields will now affect both players and enemies in the Forest Dash and Siegfried Line skirmishes (The only maps where mines are present). The Ai pathfinding has been set up to best avoid these minefields, but will occasionaly drive over them amidst the confusion of battle.

– Fixed the instant defeat bug for both Nijmegen and the Siegfried Line. The friendly capture zone (the green field HQ) momuntarily did not contain entities with the "player" tag when autoassigning units to the players, resulting in an automatic defeat. This issue was difficult to replicate, as it would sometimes trigger and sometimes not. The moment when the entities did not have the "player" tag was extremely brief, as it occured largely during the autoassign step. Thank you to everyone who experienced this bug and took the time to report it.

– The number of German infantry units on the Nijmegen Skirmish map has been significantly reduced. While performance should improve slightly, it is still advisable to test whether the skirmish runs properly on your system. Always play with fog of war enabled. If necessary, you may wish to switch to the other maps and skip Nijmegen for now. The original Nijmegen map is already demanding on many systems, and when combined with the large German garrison and skirmish AI, performance is far from ideal. I may revisit Nijmegen in the future to create a new and more lightweight skirmish version. For now, however, it remains included as is as plenty of people seem to have enjoyed the challenge.

– Removed the German infantry inside the Stevenskerk (capture point 1) and the Housing block at the Lindenberg street (capture point 2). These capture points were sometimes a bit of a hassle to capture because of hiding german infantry, giving the impression that the capture points were bugged. Although this was not technically a bug, it was unintended and left people frustrated. Thank you for reporting it.

– Switched the infantry and support capture points on the Nijmegen map. Taking the church will now provide you with more infantry options.

– Renamed the mod to "USA Skirmish Pack" and changed some UI Elements.
