Guards Tank Army
Guards were the elite of the Red Army. They were experienced, possessed superior morale and were issued with the best equipment.
Guards’ vehicles were decorated with slogans and unit distinctions. This skin pack re-creates the look of a Guards unit. Each vehicle is re-coloured with the references of period photographs, official sources, armour preserved in museums and colour illustrations produced by military historians. The decorations are a mix of period and original artwork.
The base green colour is a colour-match to Soviet 4BO green. Other camouflage colours are based on issue K-series of pigment based oil paints such as 6K brown (umber) and 7K yellow-earth (ochre). Aircraft colours are matched to corresponding nitrocellulose aircraft paints: AMT-1 (brown), AMT-4 (green) and AMT-12 (dark grey) for the upper surfaces and AMT-7 (light blue) for the underside.
The offensive doctrine of the Soviet tank corps prioritised identification over concealment. Camouflage patterns are only used on certain specialist vehicles, and these are reproductions of real camouflage patterns in Guards units:

Il-2M3 – lucky №13, Gds. Capt. Talgat Begeldinov, 144th Guards Air Assault Regiment
