After The End Fan Fork – Chrome Cultist Overhaul
While the vanilla After The End’s Chrome Cultists have some flavor with them getting the ambition to remove negative traits, it personally(alongside a few subreddit posts) didn’t feel worthwhile playing them over the more mainline & fleshed-out Rust Cultists. This mod is an attempt at adding some additional content, some of which were suggested on the ATE subreddit, to make Chrome Cultists stand out a bit more.
and I sure hope I didn’t accidentally forget something and break the mod as a result, but if I did, I’d like to know
As of the current version:
-Chrome Cultists now can get access to a secular religious head title, and have the Divine Machinist in charge of The Institute of Tomorrow. While the original ATE code explicitly outlined that its nonexistent couldn’t call an Industrial Action, this mod allows it, as a bit of a reward for managing to create it.
-The religion also now gets access to Meritocracy, as per their "rational" inclinations, and also get river movement mainly because Rust Cultists get it too, and it seemed strange that the Chrome counterpart would forget it by comparison, especially as Detroit as a Merchant Republic would need those even if it changes to the heresy.
-Provided they’re not Patricians, Chrome Cultists get a unique government type in the form of Technocratic Feudal, which replaces both the Feudal and Theocracy governments for them, and thus can hold both Castle and Temple holdings. It can also currently build the latter using Piety as a loose reference to actual-Technocracy’s energy ceritficates, but that might be subject to change.
-Chrome Cultists get access to decisions where they can decide to swap out one of their arms and/or legs in favour of a prosthetic counterpart. Giving a significant amount of piety in exchange for gold and likely a Wounded trait. Rulers that are missing an eye can also choose to get a glass eye using a similar decision.
-Alongside the above, the prosthetics also grant at least a +10 opinion boost between other Chrome Cultists each.
-Instead of scavenging for artifacts, Chrome Cultists can instead decide to hire a Fabricator, in an event chain similar to the Monks & Mystics crafting events. Having the ability to forge likely-inferior counterparts to a Watch, Typewriter, Telescope, Compass or a Calculator. With one of those five possibly allowing for a surprise tool that could(not necessarily would) help you later.
–Mock-Up artifacts obtained via the above eventchain only give Piety bonuses, and work only for Chrome Cultist characters.
–Reinvented artifacts obtained via the above eventchain give +1 to a given stat depending on the specific artifact, but are rendered obsolete by their Old World counterparts if the latter are owned, and the Rust Cultists won’t be fond of your fraudulent artifact.
-As a counterweight to the above, landed rulers, particularly often-scavenging Rust Cultists, have a very low chance to find a salvaged safe containing an Extraordinarily Rare Special Item.
-Chrome Cultists can form their own Holy Order in the form of The Technical College to defend the faith, especially against the Rust Cultists, though this requires the Sons of Abraham DLC like similar decisions for Rust Cultists.
While I wouldn’t know when or if I’d decide to update this, I suppose I am open to suggestions for alterations or other additions provided I’d be presently capable of doing them, anyway.
Oh, and don’t mind the map frames and bloodline decisions, those are due to other mods unrelated to this.
==THIS MOD PROBABLY WON’T WORK ALONGSIDE POTENTIAL A.T.E. SUBMODS THAT OVERWRITE THE RELIGIONS OR GOVERNMENT FILES==
However, within this mod there’s a documentation txt file that notes any potential files to be mindful of, should anyone want to make a version that’s compatible with submods this otherwise isn’t readily compatible with.
