Various Challenging Traits
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2282972332
This mod introduces a variety of original traits that are both playable and challenging, aiming to offer players fresh gameplay styles and strategic approaches.
(Supports both Chinese and English) (Due to only minor changes, it should theoretically be compatible with most mods) (Not compatible with Ironman mode)
As the original version of this mod is quite old, I encountered an issue where clicking on decisions had no effect during gameplay.
To address this, I started learning CK3 modding and made some source-level modifications in hopes of making it compatible with newer game versions. (I also hope this doesn’t land me in any copyright trouble.)
PS1:
After some investigation, the core issue appeared to be missing decision illustrations, which prevented events from being triggered. (Interestingly, after a simple edit, the illustration for the “Invite Knights” decision changed too… Is this normal? Is that also part of the mod?)
Later, I discovered this was due to changes in CK3’s version which broke how images are referenced in the original mod. This has now been fixed.
PS2:
The trait description display issues for “Caesar” and “Lionheart” still remain unresolved. Possibly because the number of modifier entries is too large? Fortunately, it’s just a display issue—both traits function correctly.
TODO:
Fix the display error for the pikemen’s bonus: pikemen_pursuit_add = 5 in the “Caesar” trait
Fix the display error for the heavy infantry’s bonus: heavy_infantry_siege_value_add = 0.1 in the “Lionheart” trait
Completed:
[√] Fixed the issue where decisions failed to trigger
[√] Corrected a string value error in the English localization for the "Janus Gate" description
[√] Added clear effect descriptions to decisions
[√] Replaced decision illustrations with appropriate ones
[√] Added a “Do Nothing” option to prevent awkward situations where a player might accidentally click a decision before being ready to gain the trait
(Note: For the “Learn To Be A Battlefield Master” decision, the 100 gold and 250 prestige cost will not be refunded even if you choose “Do Nothing.”)
