IS-2 Soviet Heavy Tank
IS-2 was developed in response to German heavy tank developments, mainly the Tiger I.
It was intended to replace already outdated KV-1 tanks, which despite being more expensive to build and requiring more crew to operate than T-34, wasnt performing any better in battle.
After succesful run of prototype IS-1, IS-2 was further improved and entered mass production.
Seeing use from early 1944 during WW2, all the way till 1990’s during the war in South Osetia.
