Iron And Blood (SP/COOP)
Take command of a platoon of M48 tanks and join the defense of Phu Bai FOB against advancing PAVN forces and their PT-76 light tanks.
This mission is inspired by a real battle that took place in March 1969. Specifically, the Battle of Ben Het[en.wikipedia.org] where tanks from the 69th Armored Regiment (Nice) defended SF base against infantry and PT-76 light tank attacks, but M48s defending US base against PT-76s is as far as the connection goes. Most of this mission is my creation.
After the defense, you will receive a second task, orders to help the infantry retake the industrial area from the PAVN.
List of small things present in the mission design to make life slightly easier and less annoying for the player.
- Map Tracking – units, both friendly and enemy will be tracked on map when detected to help you coordinate your platoon.
- Presighted Ranges on Map – in lieu of modern laser range finder old technique of marking on map known distances will help you range distance to targets attacking FOB.
- Automatic Plt Rearm/Repair – after each completed task your whole platoon will have its ammo restock and tanks refueled and repaired.
The exact attack routes, vehicle versions used, exact positions occupied by the PAVN, and several smaller elements are randomized.
COOP mode is available for up to 12 players.
This mission takes between 20-30 minutes to complete.
