Description:

An implementation of a possible skin system in XCOM 2, allowing to swap out weapon models without losing upgrades and spamming the locker and schematics list.

Choose the mods you want.
The only truly required mod is Mod Everything – if you don’t install it, you won’t be able to apply skins to secondary weapons.
Please post the weapon mods you use in the pinned thread! I will update this mod accordingly.

UPDATE NOTES

You can now use Laser Weapons as Skins for other Tiers. Use in conjunction with Laser Tier Disabler

SUPPORTED MODS

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • LW Toolbox: Makes the weapons forget their spread, ONLY when Damage Roulette is DEactivated.
  • SEAL Class mod: Shield Protocol only works with vanilla gremlins, can’t fix it from my side. (reported by Sunnyko).
  • Grimy’s Loot Mod: you will get outdated weapons if you didn’t buy their schematics. I added a "Upgrade Stuck Skins" to the Build Items Engineering Screen.

Upgrading an Item resets all skins for that Item. This is to prevent the game from skipping upgrades because they don’t have the base skin.
Additionally, there is a reset skins button in the Build/Buy Items screen in Engineering.

FUTURE PLANS:

  • Some more UI Work. A proper selection list, previews, …

BEWARE:
I am not responsible for lost weapons / upgrades. This mod fiddles directly with the GameState, and can cause issues if I make mistakes during Copy&Paste. Save often, do not use in Ironman.
