Faction – Martyrs of Midnight
The Martyrs of Midnight are my first crack at creating a faction within the world of Kenshi. Located in the north of the Forbidden Forest, within a short hike from the Flotsam Ninja, is The Hollow Bastion. A small settlement founded by enemies and former slaves of both the Holy Nation and United Cities. Unlike other groups such as the Flotsam Ninjas, the Martyrs of Midnight have a more militarized organization due to being privately supported by the Shek Kingdom as a way to still harass and wage proxy wars against it’s enemies.
As such, the Martyrs of Midnight are led by a Shek named Tycona. A former slave who managed to overpower her captors as they attempted to saw off her horns, Tycona strangled her would-be slave masters with her bare hands. Taking up the very saw that would have been used on her, she proceeded to cut through the shackles binding her fellow slaves, leading them out into the wilderness at the stroke of midnight. Tycona now organizes and trains a formiddible fighting force with aspirations to someday strike back at those whom had enslaved many of it’s now current initiates. Allying themselves with like-minded factions such as the Flotsam Ninjas, Shek Kingdom, and those who oppose slavery, the Martyrs of Midnight have risen from the shadows of Narko herself.
This mod includes:
– 1 New Start (Begin as a Martyr Initiate in the new location)
– Mercenary Longswords (The Martyrs are fans of these hacking weapons as it allows them to deal semi-decent damage against armoured foes, while still providing the benefits of metal against flesh)
– Firearms (In a effort to find a equalizer against the superior numbers and equipment of their foes, the Martyrs have adopted blackpowder weaponry as they train their Rangers in their use)
– Samurai Armour (The Martyrs generally prefer to wear heavier armour to offset the greater numbers they often encounter)
– Stats: Martyr Initiates (20s-30s) | Martyr Heavy (30s-40s) | Martyr Rangers (Melee 20s | Ranged 40s-50s) | True Martyrs (50s-60s) | Honourguard (60s-70s) | Tycona (80s)
– Faction: Small chance of travelling squads in various zones. Small chance of war-camps to spawn in various zones. Faction hub in Hidden Forest.

Additional Notes:
While this mod adds a new faction and incorporates several other mods, I did try to largely keep the mod lightweight on overall impact on the game world. The Martyrs shouldn’t (at least from what I have seen so far) just stroll into towns and begin massive brawls, or generally overpower most factions. Their wandering squad is designed to only be a group of 10 that wanders from town to town and maybe stops at the bars, and their war-camps while in greater numbers should generally be focused on just patrolling their immediate area with an anti-slavery A.I. package.
Generally speaking, load this mod higher in the order than other mods such as Shoddy Firearms or Functioning Markets if you have already downloaded them, as that will ensure that the original mods overwrite any changes/functions of this one (in the event they update randomly). But otherwise I don’t believe there should be any major changes that my mod would end up causing conflict with. The faction town was also placed ingame while I was running Genesis, Reactive World, etc. to ensure I didn’t plop it down anywhere that another major mod might have used for a location already. And do not forget to import your save file.
FINALLY, *whew*, if there are any issues or bugs, let me know down below. I know that currently Tycona has no dialogue package, however that’s a W.I.P issue for a later date. But she does have a bounty and if you kill her or turn her over to a bounty faction, it should trigger a world-state where The Hollow Bastion falls to ruin and gets infested with Cannibals.
