Description:

Hello! This mod is based off of a foundation of Caracus’ excellent Shattered World mod.

This mod turns all Strategic Regions into independant countries.

Unlike Caracus’ mod, there is no balance between them.

-All vanilla buildings brought back (I am aware barracks and navies are missing and will update Soon ™ )

– Vanilla pops and homelands distribution.

– Culture is set to the largest single culture per region (because we have discrimination mechanics now). Religion is set to largest religion (this means sometimes religion is weird like Indochina is Vietnamese culture but Theravada not Mahayana religion now, despite few of their pops being Theravada).

– If a culture would normally have no recognised tags associated with it, the country is made unrecognised.

– If a culture would normally be decentralised, it is set to unrecognised. I might make a version where areas mainly populated by decentralised countries are decentralised instead of unrecognised. It’s a very quick change after all.

– Minimum tech 5, so cultures can have ports.

– Countries get technology, government and colour based on the independant country with a matching primary culture at game start closest to the new capital location (so that’s why for example Italy is Sardinia Piedmont just big now).

– If there are no independant countries at game start or multiple, they get the closest match (Rhine gets Prussia starting stuff but Lippes colour because can’t have two Prussias, or Occitania gets France stuff but Occitania releasable colour). I might go through and rearrange the colours so it looks nicer.

– Removed any specific country formables or culture mechanics ‘except’ social hierarchy from India, although I don’t know if it works as I haven’t checked.

– Country capitals are the province with the highest population of their primary culture at game start, so its normally different to vanilla game capitals. This is to boost that cultures political clout more than anything.

I could re-add things like Caudissimo (spelling) in South America and things like that easily enough if people wanted it, but generally I tried to remove any chance of bugs/crashes from weirdness happening. I have also thought about adding formables so people can reunite USA, India, Russia, Germany, France etc. etc. but haven’t done it yet, and I might not.

Releasable countries exist underneath each of the strategic region countries. This includes the original country in most cases, as I created new tags for these countries even when they would normally exist (so there are 2 France tags now). This is to hopefully remove absolutely any chance of historic events firing and causing the game problems. I might re-add stuff in if I feel like it but probably not on this one.

Probably compatible with most mods unless they add/change countries in game obviously. Things like laws, resources, buildings, pop behaviour, military etc. etc. should all work. Remember to place the mods you want to work most at the bottom to overwrite mods at the top of your list. I probably won’t make compatibility patches unless it’s for a mod I use as well.
