Description:

Empires of Europe 1700 is a total conversion mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, developed by LowFat Gaming, bringing players into a historically faithful recreation of life in 18th century Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Eastern Eurasian Steppe during the age of gunpowder empires.

Empires of Europe mods are predominantly built by LowFat Gaming, with valuable contributions from a passionate community of other modders and Bannerlord players.

This is the first public release for EoE 1700 for 2026.

WHAT’S NEW?
  • Porting to Bannerlord 1.3 (full rebuild of the mod).
  • Addition of Nidaros and bound villages in Norway.
  • Addition of Landskrona Castle in Russia (yes there was a second one in Russia!)
  • Greatly enhanced options for Character Creation.
  • Added Dutch culture.
  • New Kazakh troop tree.
  • Revised troop trees for all western cultures.
  • Re-implemented winged hussar armour and improved performance.
  • New armours for western infantry, Janissary, and Balkan units.
  • Many improvements (and nerfs) to field artillery.
  • Alternate fire mode (bayonet) for Jager rifle (to be updated).
  • Added crouch fire to all guns.
  • Removed multi-penetration from all weapons.
  • Added Galleon mesh for sea travel.
  • Addition of sea battle map (still WIP).
  • Huge number of bug fixes including: navmesh, siege points, floating villages, broken sprites, missing strings, siege crashes, names and cultures plus many more.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE:
  • Mount & Blade: Bannerlord V1.3.13 or higher
  • Harmony V2.4 or higher
  • EoE 1700 should be V1.3.13 or higher

This version DOES NOT support Warsails

This version is NOT SAVE GAME COMPATIBLE even for existing versions of Bannerlord 1.3

NOTE:

  • There are still several issues with Bannerlord vanilla 1.3, not related to EoE, in particular issues related to shader cache and not being able to launch the game. Most issues require a fix from Taleworlds.
  • For workarounds, refer to the troubleshooting notes below.
  • Many other mods are not yet compatible with 1.3, and many that have been updated are still experiencing issues. Stick to Rex’s Modlist[discord.com] to ensure compatibility.

                                             

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
  1. Subscribe to EoE 1700 v1.3.13 or higher[/li]
  2. Make sure you have Mount & Blade: Bannerlord V1.3.13 or higher
  3. Make sure you have Harmony V2.4 or higher
  4. Unblock dll’s if necessary. These are found at Europe1700binWin64_Shipping_Client. Right click on the file >Properties> tick ‘Unblock’
  5. Load Mods in this order:
  • First – Harmony
  • Then – TW Mods (Native, Sandbox, etc)
  • Then – Any other Mods
  • Then – Europe 1700

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Make sure you have correct versions of required mods to run EoE 1700

  • Mount & Blade: Bannerlord V1.3.13 or higher
  • Harmony V2.4 or higher
  • EoE 1700 should be V1.3.13 or higher

DO NOT use any other mods at first. Try running the game with just Harmony and EoE 1700, so you know it is working.

IF THE GAME CRASHES AT LAUNCH with the error message: “This application faced a problem…”
  1. Check your RGL log via file C:ProgramDataMount and Blade II Bannerlordlogsrgl_log_xxx.txt
  2. IF the last line in that file says something like: "rgl_post_warning_line: Shader cache version of the external module (EoE1700) is invalid" , then the issue is related to the shader cache. THIS IS A KNOWN VANILLA BUG.
  3. To troubleshoot, simply retry starting the mod at least 5-6x until it works.

IF THE GAME CRASHES after hitting ‘New Game’ or between finishing character creation and loading the map, you may need to delete all your shaders.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Delete the entire folder C:ProgramDataMount and Blade II BannerlordShaders
  2. Delete the “sack” file (if there is one) at C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonMount & Blade II BannerlordShadersD3D11
  3. Delete the “sack” file from C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonMount & Blade II BannerlordShadersD3D11 for any mod that’s relevant

NOTE: Deleting shader files will require the shaders to be rebuilt as the game loads. This may cause:

  • further crashes at startup – Just retry startup until game loads with no issue
  • in-game assets to be slow to load – In main menu, go to ‘Settings’ and change graphic settings to LOW, to allow you to get to character creation page. Once character creation is completed and the map loads, you can update your graphic settings back to what it was.
