Clean HotBar [B42]

Clean Hot Bar redesigns Project Zomboid’s hotbar and hand-equipped UI to make item status easier to read, less intrusive, and more visually intuitive. It improves moment-to-moment readability during gameplay while keeping the interface compact, clear, and customizable.

The mod enhances the B42 hotbar with clearer status feedback, cleaner textures, better liquid and weapon information, and built-in hotbar reordering support, while staying close to the original gameplay flow.

This mod visually integrates the new weapon and item status systems introduced in B42:

• Weapon Head Condition: Shows a status bar above the slot when a weapon has head condition data.
• Weapon Sharpness: Displays both current and maximum sharpness values.
  • White: Current sharpness
  • Brown: Maximum sharpness (see here)
• Toggleable Items: Clear ON/OFF indicators for items such as flashlights.
• Ammo Counter: Displays the current ammo count above firearm slots.

The hand-equipped UI has also been improved to show more detailed item information in a cleaner way.
Original textures have been refined as well, with added transparency for a smoother and less obstructive appearance.

The new B42 liquid system is represented with color-coded bars, making it easier to identify liquid contents at a glance.
Some colors were initially generated with AI assistance, so feedback is welcome if you notice anything that looks inaccurate.

The visual effects are designed to be noticeable without becoming distracting:

• Durability Shake: Items shake when durability decreases, such as battery drain.
• Flashing Effect: Durability values flash when going down.
• Liquid Drain Animation: Smooth visual feedback when liquids are consumed.
• Weapon Warning: A warning appears above the character’s head when the equipped weapon loses durability. This can be disabled in the settings panel.

• Disable status displays for a more hardcore experience.
• Adjust the height of status bars.
• Enable tooltips (default: off) to show item details on hover.
• Scale the size of the hotbar.
• Toggle the weapon durability warning animation above the character.
• Use the built-in hotbar reorder controls from the settings panel.

Clean Hot Bar includes built-in hotbar reordering support.
The reorder controls are available from the settings panel, keeping the hotbar itself cleaner and less cluttered.

• Compatible with current B42 builds up to 42.18.0.
• For best results, place Clean Hot Bar near the bottom of your mod load order so other mods load first.
• There may be conflicts with other mods that also add status indicators or heavy hotbar overrides.
• If the mod does not work as expected, try moving it to the bottom of the load order.
• Reorder The Hotbar is generally not needed, since Clean Hot Bar already includes built-in hotbar reordering.
• If both are enabled together, some small visual overlap may still happen depending on the version used.

Basic status support is currently implemented for handheld equipment. More improvements may be added in future updates.
