Realistic Uniforms Revival
This mod is not a copy of Jim(VG)’s mod.
It does not contain the same content.
I only use his title pictures as a tribute, because his mod was very inspiring and a great starting point.
(Unfortunately, he announced that he would stop working on it.)
I’m Only trying to create uniforms that match those historically worn by U-boat crews.
The result isn’t perfect yet, as this mod only modifies textures and materials, not 3D models.
– 9 jackets modified
– 54 textures in total (Albedo,Normals,Smoothness,Occlusion,Metal,Parallax)
– Correct the 3D models and their UV maps
– Improve the deformation animations to avoid interpenetration of the 3D model.
– Extend enhancements to additional clothing assets
– The add of new 3D models and textures, with in-game choice selection functionality.
Here some differences between my mod and the Jim VG 2022 version or the vanilla game version:
– Adds or replaces missing or inverted normal_maps (including anchor reliefs on buttons and insignias).
– Reworks the smooth_maps (apparently, Jim darkened them too much because he did not understand why they had no effect in his mod).
– Fixes excessive blur, use dithering to avoid flat color areas without gradients.
– Corrects the placement of eagle insignias using 3D projection (since the UV maps aren’t flat, simply copying and pasting images onto textures doesn’t work properly).
– Fixes metal_maps so they are only used on metallic objects.
– Textures in sRGB format, because unfortunately RGB linear causes some issues.
– Disables all doubles normal_maps in the material files (some 3D models have two different normal_maps, but the second one is just a fabric texture applied across the all 3d model surface).
– In some cases replaces the ugly and weird parallax effects with normal_maps.
– Some occlusion_maps have been entirely regenerated using 3D software.
– Fixes texture type mismatches (some occlusion mapped to albedo, some smoothness used as occlusion, some occlusion used as smoothness)
– And much more…
✔ This mod does NOT require starting a new campaign.
✔ It should work with previous saved games.
To avoid LOD issues (old textures reappearing when you move away), delete all .dxt files in the Cache game folder.
