The Judge – Character Mod
The Judge is a character mod focused on being true to the base game’s style while implementing interesting mechanics. With Judgment, deal large amounts of AoE damage to all enemies at the end of your turn! Use Potency to augment Judgment and unleash an deadly onslaught as a finisher! Perhaps you want to be less aggressive, you can apply Disease to enemies to make them harm themselves in the process of attacking, while you give yourself Barbs to deal even more damage passively! Or maybe you want to harness the power of Curses, and use them as fuel for Judgment!
The Judge was designed to be a Curse character that didn’t negate the negatives of Curses, while still giving the player a benefit to having them. In many other Curse character mods, I’ve noticed that curses are made "resources" of sorts, and the individuality of each curse is stripped. This mod plans to escape this trap that the other mods face, by forcing the player to deal with Curses in many ways.
Of course, if Curses aren’t your thing, there are still many other ways to play The Judge!
The Judge currently has:
- 73 cards
- 3 relics
- Numerous new Curses to shake up gameplay
- Fully animated character with unique art for every card
- Judgment – gain Potency and exhaust Curses to deal massive amounts of damage at the end of your turn.
- Exhaust – A few cards have a keyword – Solitary – that lessens the effectiveness of a card for each card in play. Using lots of Exhaust could be advantageous to reap the most from these powerful cards.
- Disease – Play defensively while applying Disease to your foes in conjunction with Barbs to make the foes defeat themselves. If Disease is too slow for you, apply Scourge and increase your foe’s Strength to make your enemies take the full impact — of their own attacks!
- This mod was not intended to be played with major content mods or mods that add a large amount of additional Curses. These mods severely damage the stability of this mod’s balance, as well as it’s functionality.
- If you have found a bug, please report it in the discussion! I want to make the gameplay experience of this mod optimal, and that means removing all bugs that are found!
- If you think a card is too strong, or too weak, please suggest a way to fix that in the Balance Suggestion discussion! General balance discussion can occur there too.
Thank you to the kind people at the Slay the Spire Discord server for helping me throughout this mod’s development. It would not have been possible without them. And as cliche as it is, thanks for everyone who plays this mod and gives feedback, or just enjoys it silently! It warms my heart. Thank you.
