Turse’s Military Rework [Alpha]
The goal of this mod is to make the military aspect of the game more complex and interesting. I want warfare to be more interesting and challenging, instead of just stacking as many MAA and knight modifiers and then throwing space marines around. To do this, I attempt to take inspiration from history.
Buffs levies and horde riders to be less useless. Rebalances some men at arms counters to be more sensible (eg light infantry no longer counter heavy infantry, and cavalry counter light infantry, etc). Men at arms are also far more expensive to maintain. Knights are also massively nerfed. Levies from buildings has been substantially increased, and stationed men at arms modifiers for buildings have been substantially nerfed. Levy and MAA gain have been substantially reduced to make losses more meaningful.

Defense: 15
Pursuit: 5
Screen: 3
Siege: 0.0001
Horde Riders:
Damage: 17
Toughness: 12
Pursuit: 22
Screen: 22
Levies values are calculated based on the following composition (vaguely based on a lance fournie but with more infantry):
0.1 Armored Horseman
0.1 Light Horseman
0.5 Pikemen
0.3 Archers
The values were then multiplied by 0.75 to represent that these aren’t professional soldiers unlike your retinue. Levies also have 0.0001 siege to represent that someone there probably knows something that’s useful for a besieger.
Horde riders are calculated the same, but they’re all just steppe raiders.
